Sydney Harbour Bridge lost in dust storm!!

Australia's famed Sydney Harbour bridge, can barely be seen today as the worst dust storm in 70 years blanketed the heavily populated east coast on Wednesday.

The dust storm nearly closed the country's largest airport and left millions of people coughing and sputtering in the streets.

No one was hurt as a result of this phenomenon that swept in overnight, bringing an eerie orange dawn to Sydney.

However ambulance services reported a spike in emergency calls from people with breathing difficulties, and drivers had been warned to take it easy on the roads.

Dust clouds blowing east from Australia's dry interior — parched even further by the worst drought on record — covered dozens of towns and cities in two states as strong winds snatched up tons of topsoil, threw it high into the sky and carried it hundreds of miles away.

International flights were diverted from Sydney to other cities — three from New Zealand were turned around altogether — and domestic schedules were thrown into chaos as operations at Sydney Airport were curtailed by unsafe visibility levels.

Passenger ferries on the city's famous harbor were also stopped for several hours for safety reasons.

The dust over Sydney had largely cleared by midafternoon, though national carrier Qantas said severe delays would last all day because of diverted and late-running flights.

Farewell to Patrick Swayze

In the 1990s. i watched the movie - Ghost - 3 times.

It was a very good movie - starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg.

In that movie, Patrick Swayze played the role of a ghost named Sam, protecting his wife, Demi Moore with the assistance of Whoopi - a physcic with 6th sense..

The movie was nominated for multiple Academy Awards, including Best Picture, winning for Best Original Screenplay, as well as Best Supporting Actress for Whoopi Goldberg.

The film also made an oldies song popular - Unchained Melody sung by the Righteous Brothers.

It has also inspired a musical stage version which will open in the West End in 2010.

Sadly, Patrick Swayze, died Monday 15 Sept 2009, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.

"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," his publicist, Annett Wolf, said in a statement Monday evening. Swayze died in Los Angeles, Wolf said, but she declined to give further details.

Fans of the actor were saddened to learn in March 2008 that Swayze was suffering from a particularly deadly form of cancer. He kept working despite the diagnosis, putting together a memoir with his wife and shooting "The Beast," an A&E drama series for which he had already made the pilot.

Farewell sir, you will always be on our mind...

And this song is for you..

Juara lagu TV3, 1997, memang hebat

French Spiderman conquers Malaysia's tallest building

French Spiderman, Alain Robert is in the limelight again.

Today, Alain Robert was arrested after successfully scaling the 88-storey Petronas Twin Towers, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The first building in this video is the Yayasan Sabah building in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. Roberts succesfully climbed that building sometimes in 1997. Unlike other attempts, his feat was fully approved and fully blessed by the state government of Sabah. There was even a mini carnival to commemorate Roberts historic feat in Sabah. The helicopter camera visual was courtesy of the Sabah state government sponsorship of 2 Sabah Air Bell helicopters.

In the latest incident, Kuala Lumpur Deputy police chief SAC I Abdul Samah Ahmad said the Frenchman was arrested for criminal tresspass.

It was Robert’s third attempt to scale the 88-storey structure, at one time the world’s tallest building at 452 metres or 1,483 feet.

According to earlier wire reports, Robert sneaked past security before dawn Tuesday and climbed to the top of Tower 2 of the landmark building.

The 47-year-old has climbed more than 70 skyscrapers worldwide, including the Empire State Building, the Sears Tower and Taipei 101, according to his website - http://www.alainrobert.com/

“We have taken him back to the police station for questioning and checking his passport. He can be charged for criminal trespass ... . He climbed the building without a permit from the management,” Abdul Samah told AFP.

Robert, clad in a black shirt and trousers, celebrated his ascent by standing with his arms outspread on the pinnacle of one of the towers as a helicopter circled in the misty early morning.

Eyewitnesses said he took less than two hours to complete the climb, and then fixed a Malaysian flag on top of the building, AFP reported.

“He climbed using his bare hands and reached the top very fast ... no security personnel noticed him or stopped him,” said Ee Wee Kiat, a cameraman who was filming the scene from the ground.

Robert first tried to scale the building on March 20, 1997, and made a second unsuccessful attempt in 2007 after which he was freed without charge.

Each time he reached the 60th storey before being intercepted by authorities.

In 1997, Robert also succesfully climbed the tallest building in Sabah, the Yayasan Sabah building in Kota Kinabalu, this time with permits and with full support by the state government of Sabah, as shown in the you tube video above. The first building in that video is the Yayasan Sabah building.
