Natasha Richardson plays a once-elegant Russian in 1930s Shanghai who wins the heart of a blind man (Ralph Fiennes) in the 2005 drama "The White Countess."
The gifted actress died last night due to complications from a skiing accident. She was only a couple of months away from her 46th birthday.
Richardson had spent her life immersed in the acting world: She was the daughter of Vanessa Redgrave and the late director Tony Richardson -- she made her film debut in her father's "The Charge of the Light Brigade" while still a pre-schooler -- and she had been married to Liam Neeson (whom she met when they co-starred in the Broadway revival of "Anna Christie") for the past 15 years.
