Arsenal beat Malaysia 4-0 in pre season friendly in Kuala Lumpur, 13th July 2011
Arsenal cruised to victory in the opening game of their Asia Tour on Wednesday night 13th July 2011 at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In the sweltering heat of Kuala Lumpur, a Malaysia XI found the Gunners simply too hot to handle. Arsenal won impressively 4-0.
Aaron Ramsey stroked home a penalty after 5 minutes and, 8 minutes before the break Theo Walcott clipped home a second.
Carlos Vela dinked in No 3 just after the restart in the 58th minute.
Tomas Rosicky scored Arsenal's 4th and final goal in the 90th minute after a good work by Andrei Arshavin.
Arsenal took an early lead via a penalty in the 5th minute by Ramsey.
Theo Walcott scored this beauty in the 37th minute for Arsenal's 2nd goal
Carlos Vela scored Arsenal 3rd goal in the 58th minute
Andrei Arshavin put up a good job in the left flank before his deflected cross found Tomas Rosicky for Arsenal's 4th goal in injury time.
Malaysia XI had carried a threat in the first half, mainly thanks to the pace of left winger Kunanlan Subramaniam. But they fell away as the game wore on.
This was Arsenal’s first game in Malaysia since 1999. Back then French duo, Emmanuel Petit and Nicolas Anelka had secure a solid 2-0 victory.
In 1975, Malaysia beat Arsenal 2-0, both goals scored by Malaysia's legendary striker the late Mokhtar Dahari.
Arsenal leaves for China on Thursday, 14th July 2011 on the second leg of the Tour.
Malaysia will face another 2 English giants, Liverpool and Chelsea at the same stadium in a few days time.
Liverpool is due to arrive in Malaysia on Thursday 14th July 2011.
