US$1.67mil reward for capture of Libya's Muammar Gaddafi, dead or alive 24th August 2011
A report from Benghazi today Wednesday, 24th August 2011 said Libyan businessmen are offering a two million dinar (US$1.67 million) reward for the capture of Muammar Gaddafi, dead or alive.
The rebel council says it supports the move, AFP reported.
Mustafa Abdel Jalil, the head of the Transitional National Council (NTC) said in Tripoli Wednesday, 24th August 2011 that "it supported the initiative of businessmen who are offering two million dinars for the capture of Muammar Gaddafi, dead or alive."
Abdel Jalil also offered amnesty to "members of (Gaddafi's) close circle who kill him or capture him."
The offer came as the rebels are closing in to all-out capture Tripoli after 6 months of civil war.
As the Rebels, assisted by NATO air strikes, entered Tripoli, the whereabouts of Gaddafi and his many sons are still a mystery.
The tactics to use money to capture the enemies are widely used since hundreds of years ago.
And it is very effective.
Iraq's Saddam Hussein was finally captured after a USD 25 million dollars bounty on his head was offered by the US Forces.
The same story goes to Al Qaeda's leader, Osama bin Laden who was shot dead in Abbottabbad, Pakistan on May 2nd, 2011.
Osama bin Laden also had a USD 25 million reward offer for his capture, dead or alive.
However the identities of the new millionaires who spilled the beans on the whereabouts of Saddam Hussein and bin Laden, remains a closely guarded secret for fear of reprisal.
