Najib Razak announces salary increase for more than 1 million civil servants in Malaysia
Malaysian Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is a very nice gentleman, full of pleasant surprises.
Today, the Premier announced a very good news for more than 1 million Malaysian civil servants.
The Public Service New Remuneration Scheme (SBPA) has been scrapped, and the existing Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM) would be reintroduced with improvements, Najib announced today, Thursday 8th March 2012.
Najib said the matrix salary schedule would be improved to reflect minimum-maximum salaries with increments ranging from RM80 to RM320 for grades 1 to 54. The annual increment for Jusa grades will remain according to the SSM.
Making the announcement at a gathering with civil servants at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Najib said that the government had agreed for the Cost of Living Allowance (Cola) to be increased from RM200 to RM250 for the B area, and from RM100 to RM150 for the C area.
The Prime Minister also announced the setting up of a commission to execute a comprehensive study of the remuneration system for civil servants.
