TAWAU: The Barisan Nasional (BN) Manifesto that was unveiled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Saturday is a promise to the people that will be fulfilled, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman.

Speaking to open the Yayasan Sabah Roadshow with the people for the East Coast South zone at the Community Centre here Sunday, Musa said he was with other BN leaders during the unveiling of the manifesto in Bukit Jalil.

“It is an “Aku Janji” (I Promise) Manifesto, an agreement between the BN and the people that there will be more benefits and perks for the people when the BN is again given the mandate by the people in the coming 13th General Election,” he said.

He said BN’s promise to build the 2,300km Pan-Borneo Highway from Sematan in Sarawak to Serudung in Sabah, which is located in the district would benefit the people, particularly those residing in the interior as they would be connected by road.

He said people with monthly income below RM3,000 would also benefit as the BN promised to increase the BR1M gradually from RM500 up to RM1,200 as well as from RM250 to RM600 for the single people.

Sabah would also be included in the construction of one million houses under PR1MA, he said.

“With good and efficient management Yayasan Sabah is able to supplement the work of the State government to bring progress and uplifting the social and economic standard of the people in the state,” he said.

“It also shows that Yayasan Sabah is doing its job. This is the aspiration of the BN government that is to have more development programmes,” he said.

As for the State Government, he reiterated that it had been acknowledged by the Auditor General to be among the best financially-managed state and has good reserves in its coffers.

“That is why we are able to increase the allocation to the various ministries for them to carry out their jobs better,” he said.

He said a special performance by soldiers was included in the roadshow opening programme was to show to the people that the security forces’ was very well appreciated.

“Unlike the opposition leaders who accused the whole incident was a drama by Umno. Our people have lost their lives and they are calling it a drama?

“The people can see for themselves now the true colours of the opposition leaders,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said that since the government and leadership had been good, the people would be comfortable and happy.

He believed the people here and throughout the state are very wise in making their choice in the coming election.

Afterwards, he also received former members and leaders from Parti Keadilan Rakyat and Sabah Progressive Party here who ditched their parties to join the BN.
