Real Madrid 7-1 Guangzhou Evergrande, Wednesday 3rd August 2011

Real Madrid is the greatest club in the world and nobody can dispute that, not even Barcelona, Liverpool and Independiente.

Real Madrid is not only the most successful club in Spanish football but is also voted by FIFA as the most successful football club of the 20th century, having won a record 31 La Liga titles, 18 Spanish "Copa del Rey" Cups, 8 Spanish Super Cups, a record 9 UEFA Champions Leagues, 2 UEFA Cups, 1 UEFA Supercup, and 3 Intercontinental Cups.

Therefore, if you put Real Madrid against any top-class football club in Asia, the result is Real Madrid will win by more than 6 goals.

That was what exactly happened on Wednesday, 3rd August 2011 as Real Madrid trashed Chinese top club and league leader - Guangzhou Evergrande, 7-1.

Before the match, Guangzhou Evergrande who have several import players, are unbeaten in the Chinese Super League.

However against the best football club in the world, Guangzhou crumbled and were easily dethroned.

Karim Benzema netted a classy brace and Cristiano Ronaldo scored a cheeky back-heel as Real Madrid triumphed in that pre-season friendly in style.

Benzema, who has struggled to establish himself in the Spanish capital, was at the centre of everything that was good about a rampant Real before he was taken off on the hour, earning a pat on the back from Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese supremo was full of praise for his men, saying that despite far inferior opposition -- and stifling humidity -- the team had performed as if it was a league fixture.

The win also means Real are unbeaten in the build-up to a season in which Mourinho will be fully expected to dethrone great rivals Barcelona, both in domestic competition and in Europe.

"I'm happy but I'm not so concerned if we win or lose or draw, the result doesn't matter," said Mourinho.

"What matters is that the team is improving in every game, the players are getting fitter and stronger and showing more quality with every game, this is what matters.

"The players are working hard as a team, not for themselves, and for the name of Real Madrid. They're happy, and I'm happy."

Frenchman Benzema crossed for German international Sami Khedira to head in totally unmarked and put the Spanish giants, who started with more or less their full-strength side, on their way after only seven minutes.

Real went 2-0 up just after the half-hour mark when the home defence went AWOL and Khedira's international teammate Mesut Ozil rounded the keeper before walking the ball in.

A rout was on the cards by the 39th minute when Benzema fired low past keeper Yang Jun, who ought to have done far better.

There was even time for Ronaldo to rattle the bar just before the break with Yang again well beaten.

It was more of the same in the second period as Real looked to put on a show at a virtually full Tianhe Stadium in the major southern city of Guangzhou.

Benzema grabbed his second three minutes after the break and Ronaldo's extravagance made it 5-0 on 56 minutes.

Real made wholesale changes on the hour, but it made no difference as Evergrande -- who are unbeaten in the Chinese Super League this season -- were simply out-classed.

Substitute Jese made it 6-0, fellow sub Angel Di Maria made it seven, before Yang Yihu grabbed a consolation with three minutes to go for the biggest cheer of the night.

Real, who are competing with a number of other major European clubs to establish themselves as a fans' favourite in fast-developing China, continue their tour of the country with a game in Tianjin, near Beijing, on Saturday 6th August 2011.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup Preliminary Draw results in full

The 2014 World Cup Preliminary Draw took place at the Marina da Gloria in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Saturday 30 July 2011.

Brazil's all time World Cup top scorer with 15 goals, Ronaldo is seen taking part in the draw

This is the road to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. 5 times World Cup champion, Brazil will host the 20th World Cup soccer tournament from June 12 to July 13 in 2014.

FIFA.com rounds up the results from the Preliminary Draw which took place at the Marina da Gloria in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Saturday 30 July 2011.

There are no such things as automatic qualifications for the host, Brazil and World Cup defending champion, Spain.

Instead Brazil (the 5 times champion in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002) has to slug it out with 8 other South American countries including arch rival and number 1 nemesis, Argentina (the 1978 and 1986 champion) and Uruguay (the 2 times Champion, 1930 and 1950 World Cup winners and 15 times Copa America Champion including the 2011 edition).

Spain, the 2010 World Cup Champion is pitted in the same group as France, the 1998 champion in the qualification round.

Intercontinental play-offs

Asia – South America
North, Central America and the Caribbean - Oceania

African Zone Draw

Group A: South Africa, Botswana, Central African Republic, Somalia or Ethiopia
Group B: Tunisia, Cape Verde Islands, Sierra Leone, Equatorial Guinea or Madagascar
Group C: Côte d'Ivoire, Morocco, Gambia, Chad or Tanzania
Group D: Ghana, Zambia, Sudan, Lesotho or Burundi
Group E: Burkina Faso, Gabon, Niger, Sao Tome e Principe or Congo
Group F: Nigeria, Malawi, Seychelles or Kenya, Djibouti or Namibia
Group G: Egypt, Guinea, Zimbabwe, Comoros or Mozambique
Group H: Algeria, Mali, Benin, Eritrea or Rwanda
Group I: Cameroon, Libya, Guinea-Bissau or Togo, Swaziland or Congo DR
Group J: Senegal, Uganda, Angola, Mauritius or Liberia

From what i can see in the African Zone Draw, minnows teams like Comoros, Mauritius, Uganda, Eritrea, Rwanda, Gabon, Djibouti, Burundi, Lesotho, Madagascar, Ethiopia and what more the war-ravaged Somalia have little or no chance at all to advance beyond the qualifications stage. However no African nation has ever win the World Cup.

Instead traditional strong teams like Cameroon (who reached the World Cup Quarter Final in 1990) , Senegal (who reached the Quarter Final in 2002), Ghana (who reached the quaterfinal in 2010), Algeria (who up-setted West Germany in 1982), Egypt (the African Champion), Cote d'Ivoire (who boasts world class players such as Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou), Nigeria (who has many immensely talented world class players such as Nwanko Kanu, Victor Ipkeba, Rasheed Yekini and Daniel Amokachi) and South Africa can all qualify to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Asian Zone Draw

Group A: China, Jordan, Iraq, Singapore
Group B: Korea Republic, Kuwait, UAE, Lebanon
Group C: Japan, Uzbekistan, Syria, Korea DPR
Group D: Australia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Thailand
Group E: Iran, Qatar, Bahrain, Indonesia

In the Asian Zone qualifications stage, traditional power-house teams like Australia, Japan, Korea Republic (who qualified in every World Cup final since 1986), North Korea (who had a disastrous World Cup in 2010), Saudi Arabia, Iran and Qatar (the 2022 World Cup host) can all qualify to the World Cup final in Brazil. No Asian team has ever win the World Cup.

The best achievement by an Asian team was in the 2002 World Cup in Korea/Japan where South Korea progressed all the way into the semi final before being beaten 0-1 by Germany, the eventual runners-up. However things might change for Asian teams this time as anything can happen in football. Look at the Japanese female soccer team who created history by becoming the first ever Asian country to win the FIFA Women World Cup in Germany in July 2011.

North, Central America and the Caribbean Zone Draw (Round Two)

Group A: El Salvador, Surinam, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic
Group B: Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Barbados, Bermuda
Group C: Panama, Dominica, Nicaragua, Bahamas
Group D: Canada, St. Kitts and Nevis, Puerto Rico, St Lucia
Group E: Grenada, Guatemala, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize
Group F: Haiti, Antigua and Barbuda, Curacao, US Virgin Islands

The North, Central America and Caribbean Zone always produce zero teams that can advance all the way to the final round of the World Cup. Canada made it to the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. The rest of the teams in this zone can kiss good bye to their World Cup ambitions, no way can they progress beyond this round.

North, Central America and the Caribbean Zone Draw (Round Three)

Group A: USA, Jamaica, Winner of R2 Grp E, Winner of R2 Grp F
Group B: Mexico, Costa Rica, Winner of R2 Grp A, Winner of R2 Grp B
Group C: Honduras, Cuba, Winner of R2 Grp D, Winner of R2 Grp C

This group above are traditionally dominated by none other than USA and Mexico who have qualified to the World Cup, on many occassions. Others would find it very hard to progress beyond this round.

Oceanian Zone Draw

Group A: Vanuatu, New Caledonia, American Samoa/Cook Islands/Samoa or Tonga, Tahiti
Group B: Fiji, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea

Only New Zealand can progress from this Oceanian Zone Draw. However in rugby, no teams in the world can beat the likes of New Zealand Fiji, Samoa and Tonga who are all rugby dominance nations. For the record New Zealand qualified to the 1982 World Cup in Spain and the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

European Zone Draw

Group A: Croatia, Serbia, Belgium, Scotland, Macedonia, Wales
Group B: Italy, Denmark, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Armenia, Malta.
Group C: Germany, Sweden, Republic of Ireland, Austria, Faroe Islands, Kazakhstan.
Group D: Netherlands, Turkey, Hungary, Romania, Estonia, Andorra.
Group E: Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland, Albania, Cyprus, Iceland.
Group F: Portugal, Russia, Israel, Northern Ireland, Azerbaijan, Luxembourg
Group G: Greece, Slovakia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lithuania, Latvia, Lichtenstein
Group H: England, Montenegro, Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, San Marino
Group I: Spain, France, Belarus, Georgia, Finland

The European Zone Draw is very interesting to watch. We have previous World Champions slugging it out among themselves including Italy (the 4 times champion in 1934, 1938, 1982 and 2006), Germany (the 3 times winner in 1954, 1974, 1990), Netherlands (1974, 1978 and 2010 runners-up), England the 1966 champion, France the 1998 champion and 2010 and current champion, Spain.

Look at Group I, 2 World Champions, Spain and France are in the same group.

Let's see what happens then. Thanks for reading. Best Regards and Cheers.

Real Madrid, kelab teragung bolasepak dunia

Kemenangan teragung pada final Piala Eropah 1960 dimana Real Madrid membelasah Eintracht Frankfurt 7-3. 4 gol dijaringkan Ferenc Puskas manakala 3 gol dijaringkan Alfredo D'Stefano.

Barcelona pun menangis beb...

Hidup Real Madrid.!! Selamanya...

Corat Coret Piala Dunia 2010

CORAT CORET PIALA DUNIA 2010

Malang buat peminat Les Bleus (Perancis) dan The Azzuris (Itali).

Namun menurut the Grand Order of the Grand Chamberlain of the Grand keeper of the sacred world cuppa merangkap the highest of all keepers of the sacred world cuppa, pusingan world cuppa yang baru akan bermula pada 2014 di Brazil di mana pasukan Amerika Selatan akan silih berganti memenangi Piala Dunia tanpa member peluang langsung kepada pasukan Eropah. Ingatlah mulai 2014, 2018, 2022 dan seterusnya, hanya Brazil, Argentina dan Uruguay yang memenangi Piala Dunia mengikut arahan the new keeper of the sacred world cuppa…!!!

Namun the sacred world cuppa telah mencuba sebaik mungkin untuk memastikan piala dunia 2010 milik pasukan Amerika Selatan.

Uruguay kemudiannya memenangi penentuan sepakan penalty 4-3.

Pada pertembungan separuh akhir mempertemukan Uruguay dengan Holland, the sacred world cuppa sekali lagi memainkan peranan ketika Uruguay ketinggalan 0-1 menerusi jaringan awal jarak jauh Van Bronchorts.

Jika Baggio selaku penyepak trakhir, berjaya menjaringkan gol, maka Itali juara piala dunia 1994, bukannya Brazil. Namun sepakan Baggio – pemain terbaik dunia 1995 tinggi melangit, setelah the sacred world cuppa merendahkan palang gol serendah 8mm, sekaligus memastikan Brazil juara piala dunia 1994.

Bermakna seri 9 – 9.

Namun dari segi pemain lagenda dunia – 2 nama teratas kekal milik Amerika Selatan iaitu Pele (Brazil) dan Diego Maradona (Argentina). Argentina juga mempunyai seorang lagi pemain legenda iaitu Alfredo D’Stefano. Brazil pula mempunyai ramai pemain legenda selain Pele iaitu Zico, Didi, Vava, Garrincha, Roberto Rivelino, Ronaldo, Romario, Bebeto, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, Rivaldo, Careca, Socrates, Falcao, Eder, Junior, Jairzinho dan Gerson.

Pengadil sering kali dipersalahkan setiap kali berlangsungnya Piala Dunia.

Sepakan penalty kedua Xavi Alonso Berjaya diselamatkan penjaga gol Paraguay.

Pengadil sepatutnya memberikan sepakan penalty ketiga kepada Spain, kerana David Villa dijatuhkan di kotak penalty ketika penalty kedua Alonso diselamatkan. Hmmm.. pening kannn..

Pemain ternama seperti pemain terbaik dunia 2008 Kaka - Brazil, pemain terbaik dunia 2009 Lionel Messi – Argentina dan Fernando Torres – Sepanyol semuanya pulang tanpa menjaringkan sebarang gol. Namun Torres harus berpuas hati kerana pasukannya menjulang Piala Dunia 2010.

Syabas Sepanyol… Hidup Brazil… Viva Liverpool..

Terima kasih kerana membaca…

No religious ban on Manchester United jerseys in Malaysia, says Mufti

The disputed football jerseys include that of Brazil, Portugal, Serbia, England, Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona because the emblems feature among others The Red Devils, Cross, Betting company and Alcoholic drinks!!!!

But to me, football is football and religion is religion. They are 2 very very very separate things and issues. No sane football supporters will suddenly convert to other religion from their respective religions on seeing their teams actions.

No logic thinking football supporters will suddenly worship the devil whenever Manchester United win.

As reported by the Star on 24th July 2010.

KUALA LUMPUR: There is no “religious ban” on Manchester United jerseys despite statements by several prominent Islamic scholars urging Muslims not to don the Premier League club’s shirts because the emblem features a devil.

Perak mufti Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria said jerseys with devils, crosses or skulls promoted the wrong values for Muslims but that did not mean they should be banned.

“A fatwa on the matter is not necessary as it is clearly wrong for Muslims to wear shirts with devils and other unIslamic symbols because it is against the teachings of Islam,” he said yesterday.

Apart from Manchester United, which is also known as The Red Devils, other football teams whose crests carry images deemed unIslamic like the cross are Brazil, Portugal, Serbia, Barcelona and Norway.

“In Islam, Satan is our enemy ... but I believe Satan is also an enemy of the non-Muslims.

“We advise people not to wear them,” said Harussani.

He added that Muslims had no reason to wear and glorify symbols that promoted wrong values.

Harussani said other ulama and mufti shared his opinion but they did not plan to pass any edict to ban the attire either.

Many Muslim football fans, he said, were actually unaware of the images on the emblems.

His view was shared by Johor Religious Council adviser Datuk Nooh Gadot, who had issued similar advice to Muslims on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, several Malaysian football fans have shown the “red card” to the advice by the ulama.

They voiced disapproval over social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

“What am I going to do with all my Manchester United jerseys? And my sons’ jerseys?” said a Twitter user.

Some even went to the extent of accusing the ulama of supporting Liverpool, Manchester United’s archrival.

Manchester United Malaysia Fan Club, which boasts 7,000 members, when contacted, declined to comment.

Checks at various sports retail outlets in shopping malls revealed that the famous red jerseys of the club were still on sale.

Sales personnel on duty said the new version of the club’s attire was selling like hot cakes as it had arrived just a few days ago after its global launch on July 15.

Viva Spain - the New World Cup Champion 2010!!

La Furia Roja (The Red Fury).. Gracias Senor!!!

In front of 700 million global TV audiences and 84,000 at the Soccer City, Stadium, Johannesburg, Spain made world football history when they beat Holland 1-0 in the 2010 World Cup final at Soccer City, Johannesburg, South Africa on 11th July 2010, winning the coveted trophy for the first time.

Spain reigns as World and European Champions!!!

Holland was in pain, stung by Spain and hit a hattrick of World Cup final losses after the 1974 and 1978 defeats at the hands of West Germany and Argentina.

Magnificent Spanish Armada and Matadors!!!

When the match ended 0-0 after a gruelling 90 minutes, which saw a dozen of yellow cards being flashed by English referee Howard Webb, exhaustion etched on Carles Puyol, Andres Iniesta, Xavi, David Villa and the rest of the Matadors faces.

While fatigued bodies ready to betray them, the players knew just one goal would be enough to win the elusive World Cup for their nation.

As the clock ticked toward penalty kicks, the shivering crowd at Soccer City Stadium grew anxious.

Spain or the Netherlands would win its first championship if only someone could find the net.

Andres Iniesta did at the 116th minutes, and Spain rules the soccer world at long, long last.

“We have all done an incredible job,” Iniesta said Sunday night, shortly after the 1-0 extra-time victory. “I don’t think we even realize what we have done.”

Spain won its last 4 games by a score of 1-0, a tight margin including the 1-0 win over Portugal in the 2nd round, 1-0 defeat of Paraguay in the quarterfinal and 1-0 win over the mighty 3 times Germany in the semifinals.

The 1-0 score characterized the month-long tournament. The World Cup featured a record 31 one-goal decisions out of 64 matches, 4 more than the previous high set in 2002.

This final was a physical test of attrition that sometimes turned dirty—a finals-record 14 yellow cards were handed out and the Dutch finished with 10 men after the sending off of John Heitinga.

In the end, it was Iniesta breaking free in the penalty area, taking a pass from Cesc Fabregas and putting a right-footed shot from 8 yards just past the outstretched arms of goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg with about seven minutes left to play, including injury time.

“When I struck it, it just had to go in,” Iniesta said.

For the Dutch and their legions of orange-clad fans wearing everything from jerseys to jumpsuits to clown gear to pajamas, it was yet another disappointment.

Even with their first World Cup title tantalizingly within reach, they failed in the final for the 3rd time.

This one might have been the most bitter because, unlike 1974 and 1978, the Netherlands was unbeaten not only in this tournament, but in qualifying for the first World Cup staged in South Africa.

Soccer City was soaked in Oranje, from the seats painted in that hue throughout the stadium to pretty much everyone seated in them, including crown prince Willem-Alexander.

It was different when they lost to hosts West Germany and Argentina in previous finals; this time, the Dutch were something of a home team. And the visitors won.

Spain had pockets of supporters, too, with fans dressed in red and scattered throughout the stadium. Among those cheering were Queen Sofia, Rafael Nadal and Pau Gasol.

Spain’s fans might have been in the minority, but when the final whistle blew, they were tooting their vuvuzelas with a vengeance in tribute to their champions.

Like the 2006 world cup final between France and Italy, a second straight World Cup final headed into extra time, with the goalkeepers unbeatable.

Stekelenburg, the Ajax goalkeeper, relatively inexperienced on the international level, made a spectacular left leg save when Fabregas broke free early in overtime.

The goal in the 116th minute came off a turnover by the Dutch defense that Fabregas controlled just outside the penalty area. Iniesta stayed on the right and sneaked in to grab the pass and put his shot to the far post. Stekelenburg barely brushed it with his fingertips as it soared into the net.

And with that, Iniesta tore off his jersey and raced to the corner where he was mobbed by his teammates.

Several Dutch players wiped away tears as they received their runners-up medals—yet again. They had won every qualifying match and all six previous games in South Africa before the bitter ending.

The Netherlands now has more victories in World Cup games without a title than any nation: 19. Spain held that dubious record with 24.

Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk took off his silver medal as soon as he left the podium, a look of disgust on his face.

The winners struggled but managed to lift their coach, Vicente del Bosque, in the air in celebration.

“This is immeasurable for Spain,” he said.

Then they made a quick costume change from their sweat-soaked blue jerseys into their traditional red ones.

Iker Casillas, the captain, and Real Madrid goalkeeper, accepted the trophy from FIFA president Sepp Blatter, and Jacob Zuma, the South African President.

Both leaders draped in a scarf since temperatures dipped below 10 degree Celcius on this chilly winter’s night in the Southern Hemisphere.

Casillas, voted the World Cup’s top goalkeeper, kissed the distinctive gold award and raised it for all to see while cameras flashed and confetti flew throughout the still-full stadium.

“This really is quite a cup,” Casillas said. “The European Championship was the most important moment of our lives, but today is much bigger than anything else.”

Soon, the entire team and staff gathered at midfield for a group photo. The players bounced up and down to the World Cup theme song, then took a victory lap as the trophy was passed to each member of the squad.

“It’s the most beautiful that there is. It’s spectacular,” Iniesta said.

Aside from a European title in 1988, the Dutch have been classic underachievers on the pitch.

Yet the Spaniards haven’t been much better. Other than Euro championships in 1964 and 2008, they rarely have contended in major tournaments. At least the Netherlands made those two World Cup finals and advanced to the semifinals in 1998.

Spain joined West Germany and France as the only nations to simultaneously hold the world and European titles.

West Germany followed the European title with the 1974 World Cup and France won the 1998 Cup before winning the Euros two years later.

The Spaniards also won the championship with the fewest goals, eight.

Second-ranked Spain started this World Cup in the worst way, losing to Switzerland, 0-1, but bounced back, beating Honduras 2-0 and Chile 2-1.

But Spain won every game after that, including a 1-0 victory over powerful Portugal and Germany in the knock out stages.

No other nation has won the World Cup after losing its opener.

“They made it very difficult for us to play comfortably,” Del Bosque said. “It was a very intense match.”

Yet the most dangerous player Sunday was Netherlands forward Arjen Robben. He had a rare breakaway in the 62nd minute after a brilliant through pass from Wesley Sneijder.

He had the ball on his preferred left foot, but a charging Casillas barely got his right leg on the shot to deflect it wide of the gaping net.

Then it was Stekelenburg’s turn, holding his ground after a misplay in front of the net gave the ever-potent Villa an open shot.

As play opened up, the crowd of 84,490 got quieter in nervous anticipation of the goal that would win the World Cup.

Robben again looked as though he might get it with a burst of speed past the defense, but Casillas sprinted from his net and smothered the ball before Robben could take a shot.

“You felt that the team that would score first would win,” Van Marwijk said. “We had two great chances through Arjen. We made a real game out of it.”

Before the game, former South African president Nelson Mandela received a huge ovation when he was driven onto the field on a golf cart. A smiling Mandela waved to the fans as the vuvuzelas buzzed throughout Soccer City.

And after the game, Iniesta took time to salute Paul the Octopus, who correctly picked the winner of eight matches.

“As for the octopus, what can I say?” Iniesta said, smiling. “We won and I’m sure the octopus will be more popular in Spain.”

German 'psychic' octopus predicts victory for Spain over Germany in the 2010 World Cup semifinal..

Paul is a national celebrity in Germany after all his predictions for Germany in this 2010 World Cup were 100% correct, including the 0-1 defeat to Serbia...!!!

Paul, the "psychic" octopus in Germany, which appears to have correctly predicted every 2010 World Cup game involving the national team so far, has picked Spain over Germany in the semi-final...!!!

Germans fans are heart broken even before the match against Spain later today!!!

Paul, from the Sea Life Aquarium in the western city of Oberhausen, chose a mussel from a jar with the Spanish flag instead of one with a German flag.

The two-year-old cephalopod has become a national celebrity.

According to his owners, Paul has a record of predicting German results in major tournaments including the ongoing 2010 World Cup in South Africa where Germany advances all the way to the semifinal having pumped 8 goals against 2 former world champions, England and Argentina in the 2nd round and quarter final respectively.

Paul correctly predicted all five of the team's previous World Cup games - 4 wins and a loss. The 4 Germany wins were against Australia, Ghana, England and Argentina and a shock defeat by Serbia in the group stages.

His prognosis ahead of Wednesday's World Cup semi-final was broadcast live on German TV.

Correspondents says Paul's plumping for Spain has caused alarm in the country, but some analysts point out that his predictive powers are not perfect.

During Euro 2008 he wrongly picked Germany as the victor against Spain.

Viva Spain!!! Enough of the Germans, they have won the World Cup 3 times already in 1954, 1974 and 1990 while Spain has not tasted that glory!!!

2010 World Cup Semifinal : Germany and Spain clash of the titans

The Germans are simply unstoppable, they pumped in 8 goals past 2 former World Champions England (4-1 win in the 2nd round) and Argentina (4-0 demolition in the quarter final). In the group stage, Germany routed Australia 4-0 and beat Ghana 1-0 but suffered a shock 0-1 loss to Serbia, after their talismanic top striker Miroslav Klose was sent off.

The Spanish squad has won 4 out of 5 matches at this 2010 World Cup, same as the Germans. After the shock 0-1 loss to Switzerland in their 1st match at the group stage, Spain never looked back, disposing off Honduras 2-0, Chile 2-1, Portugal 1-0 in the 2nd round knock out stage and another 1-0 win over Paraguay in the quarterfinal.

Germany and Spain do battle on Wednesday 7 July 2010 for the right to meet the Netherlands in the World Cup final, in a semifinal match, widely expected to be one of the most exciting clashes of the tournament. The clash of the Titans to be exact.

However the Germans prevailed in their 2 previous clashes of the Titans, pumping 4 goals against the 1966 champion England in their 4-1 win in the 2nd round and shocking 2 times world champion Argentina 4-0 in the quarterfinal.

Germany and Spain will fight to the teeth to ensure which team gets the right to face the Dutch in the final at Soccer City, Johannesburg on Sunday, 11th July, 2010.

A 3-2 Dutch victory on Tuesday against a Uruguayan side who fought until the last minute in a thrilling encounter, guaranteed Europe would win its first trophy outside the continent in the final at Johannesburg's Soccer City on Sunday.

The semi-final in Durban on Wednesday promises to be another thriller with both teams committed to attack and fast passing.

The speed and quality of the German side has been one of the surprises of the tournament while European champions Spain are one of the world's most stylish teams, able to torment opponents with precision passes and possession.

The Germans are 3 time world champions having won the World Cup in 1954, 1974 and 1990.

Germany will be looking for revenge for their defeat by Spain in the 2008 Euro final, 2 years ago.

But German coach Joachim Loew says they have got better and the speed of their game has improved since then, while Spain are the same, admittedly efficient, side as two years ago.

The Netherlands, in their first final since 1978, had to endure some nail-biting moments in the other semi-final on Tuesday when Uruguay pulled a goal back in added time and looked in danger of scoring another in the dying seconds.

It will be a battle between 2 sides that boast a handful of world football megastars.

Germany is powered by their 14 goals hero in 3 world cups - Miroslav Klose who now equals the legendary Gerd Muller Der Bomber world cup goals record. Klose will be assisted by the find of the tournament - the Germans young striker - Thomas Mueller of Bayern Munich.

Spain's chief striker David Villa who has scored 5 goals so far will be the main threat in the Germans defence alongside the dangerous Fernando Torres who even tough still has not scored in this World Cup, remains one of the deadliest strikers in the world.

The Germans has qualified into 12 world cup semifinals. Apart from winning 3 world cups, the mighty Germans also featured in the final 3 times in a row in 1982 (beaten by Italy 1-3), 1986 (beaten by Argentina 2-3) and 1990(crowned world champion after 1-0 win against Argentina).

As for the Spanish Armada, they have never won the world Cup.

Go Germans Go Spain!!!
