Malaysian transgender Mohd Ashraf / Aleesha Farhana dies

This is a sad and tragic story of a Malaysian who wanted to change his gender status from male to female but died shortly after a Malaysian High Court rejected his application.

Mohd Ashraf Hafiz Abdul Aziz, 25, who failed in his bid to change his name to Aleesha Farhana after undergoing a sex change operation in Thailand, has died at the intensive care unit of Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia at 5 am on Saturday 30th July 2011.

Ashraf / Aleesha was admitted to the hospital at 3am on Friday, 29 July 2011 after experiencing heart problems and low blood pressure.

Doctors at the hospital said that Ashraf / Aleesha was suffering from unstable angina with cardiogenic shock.

Mohd Ashraf Hafiz or Aleesha Farhana, 25, had applied to the Kuala Terengganu High Court for an order to change his name and gender after undergoing sex change operation in Thailand in 2009 but it was rejected on July 18, 2011.

Ashraf / Aleesha was devastated by the verdict.

Ashraf / Aleesha’s depression was obvious and mentioned that he’d rather die fighting to change his name in his Identity Card and he was determined to make an appeal on the decision.



The case received huge media attention and was closely followed by Malaysians because it was a very rare case in Malaysia.



Friends and relatives attended his funeral at the Seberang Takir Muslim cemetery at 4.45pm on Saturday, 30th July 2011.

Meanwhile in Kuala Lumpur, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said that she was deeply saddened that her ministry was not able to provide counselling in time to Mohd Ashraf / Aleesha Farhana.

Shahrizat said her ministry from early on had offered to provide counselling to Mohd Ashraf / Aleesha Farhana but now fate had intervened.

“We were concerned about his wellbeing. My ministry is welfare-oriented and we are non-judgemental.

“We try to understand and counsel anyone who needs our help, especially people who feel desperate like in the case of Ashraf, but for him, it is too late now,” Shahrizat said.

Shahrizat also extended her condolences to Mohd Ashraf's family and hoped they would remain strong in this difficult time.

“If the family needs any help they can contact me or the nearest Welfare Department office,” she said.

Malaysia's New Straits Times reported on July 22, 2011 that Ashraf / Aleesha was looking forward to meeting Shahrizat after she offered to help him through her ministry.

On July 20th 2011, Shahrizat said everyone should find ways to help Ashraf instead of condemning him.

In the end, Ashraf / Aleesha never got to meet the minister.

Ashraf / Aleesha's mother known as Mak Yah said she hoped public condemnation of her family would end with the death of Ashraf / Aleesha.

"All the hype about him might have been a boon for the media but it did nothing for us," she said, adding that Ashraf / Aleesha was very depressed over the negative stories about him.

Ashraf / Aleesha's father, Abdul Aziz Ahmad, 60, held a press conference at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital mortuary after his son's autopsy was completed at 3.30pm on Saturday 30th July 2011. He accepted Ashraf's death as fate.

He said Ashraf / Aleesha had been acting peculiarly since a few weeks ago.

"He asked a relative to sew a baju kurung for Hari Raya Aidilfitri about two weeks ago.

"The relative was shocked as he wanted the dress to be completed immediately," he said, adding that Ashraf was happy when the dress was completed in about a week.

"Upon collecting it, he was very excited to celebrate Hari Raya, as the baju came with the sequins he requested,"

Aziz said Ashraf often uttered "Raya tak sempat, renew lesen kereta tak sempat" (I will not make it for Hari Raya, I will not be able to renew my driving licence).

"I did not know that it was a sign that he would be leaving us forever," he said, adding that Ashraf succumbed to low blood pressure, a condition he had been suffering from since childhood.

Since Ashraf / Aleesha was small, Mak Yah had seen the strong feminine side in her son who was born in 1985.

But what can a mother do to stop the natural urge that was beginning to get stronger. Ashraf / Aleesha grew up with an even more obvious femininity.

Abdul Aziz, in the other hand told that he had never face any problems to discipline his kids. But with Ashraf, he admitted that he couldn’t find a way to stop Ashraf’s behavior.

In his teenage years, his father told that his son wasn’t rasping like how normal teenage boys would be when they reach puberty.

Ashraf even sways like a woman. Making Abdul Aziz even more concerned.

“His brother did cut his hair like this army style, but we still see him as a woman, the only difference was that he had a much shorter hair,” he said.

His father added, no matter what the whole family did to him, Ashraf / Aleesha was ever strong with his feminine side.

Regarding his career, according to Mak Yah, she understood that her son worked at Putrajaya, but she didn’t really tell what Ashraf’s real job was.

Behind Mak Yah and Abdul Aziz’s knowledge, Ashraf, who has a diploma in medical field had gone through medical and hormone test at Kuala Lumpur Pantai Medical Centre somewhere around 2007 and he was qualified to change his gender.

The peak of ‘femininity process’ for Ashraf happened when both his parents went to Mecca to perform haj in 2009, he then took matters into his own hands by going through sex reassignment surgery (SRS) in one of the hospitals in Thailand without informing his parents.

Although the surgery did satisfy Ashraf / Aleesha, he faced his parents’ wrath and fury who reacted by burning all of his female attires and chased him away.

According to Mak Yah, despite being chased away, Ashraf / Aleesha still went back to his parents, but he only dared to sleep in the car.

Despite being exiled by the family, Ashraf / Aleesha was ever determined to become a woman by filing a petition to the Terengganu High Court on May 15, 2011.

Changing his gender from male to female and changing his name from Mohd Ashraf Hafiz to ‘Aleesha Farhana’, was to ensure that he/she lives normally in daily life without hassles.

The application was also to facilitate Ashraf / Aleesha's entry into a local university to further his / her studies.

Meanwhile, a candlelight vigil was planned at 8pm Saturday, 30th July 2011 by Seksualiti Merdeka in front of the Bar Council at Lebuh Pasar Besar.

Deranged Malaysian man, attacking women in hot pants

A deranged and sexually defunct middle-aged Malaysian man has been attacking women wearing short pants in Johor Baru, south of Malaysia, Malaysian newspaper, reported.

The 48-year-old claimed that such attire were meant to seduce him.

The man would also spit on any woman with short pants, including children, the media reported.

It added that he had been behaving strangely in the past few years.

The man's female neighbour lodged a police report on Saturday, 5th March 2011 after the man tried to attack her with a wooden stick while she was in her kitchen.

The woman, 44, said the man tried to attack her although she was wearing jeans during the 1.30pm incident on that day.

The paper said when policemen approached the man, he claimed that he was gay and that he hated women wearing short pants.

When asked why, he told them they were trying to seduce him.

Oh come on man... this is a clear case of mentally-unstable sex maniac man who is of danger to society at large.

Things you don't know about Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi

Muammar Gaddafi always travels with the famed all female Amazonian Guards...

However, the veteran Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is now under pressure after thousands of Libyans across Tripoli, Benghazi and Tobruk are demanding for his resignation and removal as long time leader of Libya.

However Defiant Gaddafi vows to fight on!! He wants to fight his own people!!! And kill them???

In televised speech 23rd February 2011, Libyan leader blames youths inspired by regional events for uprising and vows to die a 'martyr'.

Here.. there are few things that the general public doesn't know about Gaddafi.

According to leaked US documents and cables released by Wikileaks in November 2010, Gadaffi fears flying over water, prefers staying on the ground floor and almost never travels without his trusted Ukrainian nurse, a "voluptuous blonde" known as Galyna Kolotnytska.

The cable from September 2009 describes how Gaddafi's preferences for shorter flights and accommodation on the ground floor created logistical headaches for his staff, and that the Libyan leader never travelled without a certain Ukrainian nurse at his side.







One source, tells the US embassy that Gaddafi cannot travel without Kolotnytska, "as she alone 'knows his routine'," it said.

"Some embassy contacts have claimed that Gaddafi and the 38 year-old Kolotnytska have a romantic relationship," it said.

"While he did not comment on such rumours, a Ukrainian political officer recently confirmed that the Ukrainian nurses 'travel everywhere with the Leader'."


However, Galyna herself recently left Gaddafi and Libya and returned to Kiev, Ukraine after 9 years in Libya, fleeing the unrest in Libya.

The cable was written after US officials had discussed arrangements for the Libyan leader's visit to New York in 2009 to address the United Nations General Assembly.

After the nurse's travel paperwork was delayed, the Libyan government arranged a private jet to fetch her so she could join Gaddafi and his entourage in Portugal, where the leader spent the night en route to New York, according to the document.

During his visit, his first to the United States, Gaddafi was not allowed to set up his customary tent in Manhattan or to visit the site of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre.

According to other documents cited by the New York Times which were not posted on the paper's website, Gaddafi was so angered by his reception in New York that he threatened to break a pledge to return enriched uranium to Russia.

The US ambassador to Libya told the leader's son "that the Libyan government had chosen a very dangerous venue to express its pique", said the cable, quoted by the Times.

The September 29, 2009,cable said Gaddafi is "almost obsessively dependent on a small core of trusted personnel" who handle every detail.

The leader's "dislike of long flights and apparent fear of flying over water also caused logistical headaches for his staff" prior to the New York visit, the document said.

For his US trip, Gaddafi flew to Portugal and stayed the night, as a source said he "cannot fly more than eight hours" and that Gaddafi "does not like to fly over water".

US diplomats were also told that Gaddafi "must stay on the first floor of any facility that was rented for him" and that the leader "could not climb more than 35 steps".

This was the reason why Libyan officials chose an official residence in New Jersey as the preferred place for Gaddafi to stay during his US visit, instead of a Libyan diplomat's home in Manhattan, it said.

Although he had his Ukrainian nurse close at hand, Gaddafi did not bring his famed all-women guard unit with him to New York, and instead had only one female guard in a 350-member delegation, it said.

Gutsy lady, single handedly counter-attacked 2 robbers

In KUALA LUMPUR, media reported on 22nd February 2011 that a gutsy and very tough lady, single handedly pursued after 2 robbers and taught them a lesson.

She delivered the message - DON'T MESS WITH ME" in true fashion.

In the end, it was a gory end for one snatch thief who died with his private parts severed in a collision at Ampang Jaya, near Kuala Lumpur.

The police and passers-by found the body of the 35-year-old suspect in a drain, with his penis almost crushed and detached from his body. His pants had been ripped from his body in the accident.

His accomplice, who was riding pillion, suffered body injuries.

The incident happened soon after the 28-year-old victim who is a super-woman of sorts, was locking the gate to leave her home in Taman Mega Jaya in Ampang at around 8.30am yesterday Monday 21st February 2011.

She had left the bag in her Toyota Vios, while the car engine was on.

A man suddenly appeared, opened the car door and snatched the bag. The woman tried to fight back but was kicked in the abdomen.

Ampang Jaya Polic Chief Assistant Commissioner Amirruddin Jamaluddin said the woman then got into her car and gave chase before blocking them.

The two men were caught off-guard and rammed right into the victim’s car resulting in both of them being flung from the machine. The accident occurred about 200m from the woman’s house.

The snatch theft victim was not hurt in the incident.

ACP Amiruddin also said both men had valid driving licences but the motorcycle they were using was reported stolen.

Police are investigating if the suspects were involved in other criminal activities in the district.
