Daughter returns home - only to find mum detained

Damn!!

Kota Kinabalu, 12 April 2012 :

The mother of a 12-year-old - who was wrongly reported missing when she was actually at her stepfather's house - was detained by police on April 8, 2012.

The 28-year-old single mother was taken in for questioning with regard to certain matters. Deputy City Police Chief Supt. M. Chandra said she is under remand until April 14, 2012.

Meanwhile, Chandra also confirmed that the girl was safely back in her house in Kepayan Ridge since April 7, 2012.

She was reported missing after going down to buy some groceries near her house at about 2pm on March 31, 2012.

However, Chandra said the girl had stayed for a week at her stepfather's house in Kampung Kolopis, Penampang.

However, posters appealing to the public to help find her are still posted around town while a major bank (RHB) continues to erroneously advertise half page colour public alerts with phone numbers to contact in the newspapers (not Daily Express).

According to a close relative, the girl was quiet and shy who respected her elders until she entered Primary Six this year.

"She started to misbehave, she wouldn't listen to advice and she would go off without informing us," she said, adding that she suspected the girl behaved in such a way after getting involved with the wrong crowd.

"In fact, this is not the first time she had run away from home.

The first time was when she said she wanted to go out to buy some stuff at the grocery nearby but we later found out that she went to her stepfather's house without telling us," said the relative who lives in the same house.

"When we asked her stepfather's family how she ended up at their house, we were told that they met coincidentally somewhere along the Penampang road but how could a child her age go there alone?," she asked.

"So this time when she went missing, her mother called the stepfather who admitted that she was in his family home in Kg. Kolopis In Penampang," she said.

Please help find this missing 5 year old Malaysian girl.

If you found this girl known as Nurul Nadirah Abdullah, nicknamed Dirang, please call the nearest Police Station.

A five-year-old girl went missing after she went out to buy instant noodles and eggs near her flats in Flat Seri Delima, Bandar Seri Alam, Johor Bahru, Johore, Malaysia.

Nurul Nadirah, affectionately known in her family as Dirang, failed to return home to her Seri Delima Flats in Seri Alam after going out to a sundry shop next block on Thursday, 1st March 2012.

Her mother Roselyn Alan, 25, said her husband Lima Medeng, 25, gave Nurul Nadirah RM4 and a hand-written note at 11am asking her to go to the shop to buy the items for lunch. When she did not return home after an hour, Lima went to the shop and the shopkeeper told him that his daughter had left after buying the items.

Rosleyn said the couple alerted the neighbours who searched the area, including her favourite spot at a nearby playground, but there was no trace of her.

She added that the police told them that Nurul Nadirah's green slippers and a plastic bag containing the instant noodles and eggs were found some 500m from the flat on Sunday, 4th March 2012.

The family also pasted leaflets about the girl around the Masai area.

Roselyn said her daughter had always gone out on her own to play with her friends since she was three.

“I can't sleep and I can't eat. I will not tell her off for being so noisy again. I just want her back in my arms,” said the mother-of-three, while adding that their home had been silent without her daughter's singing and dancing.

Rosleyn urged members of the public to contact the police immediately if they had seen her daughter who was last seen wearing a pink T-shirt and white shorts.

Johor police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Mokhtar Shariff said three suspects, including a woman, had been detained to facilitate investigations.

The suspects, aged between 36 and 40, were arrested on the same day that police received reports about the missing child.

“We have conducted searches at 20 separate locations but are still unable to find the girl,” he said, adding that the suspects had been remanded until today.

God bless this girl and her family.

Those kidnappers should be dealt severely as lessons to other would be kidnappers in the future.
