Damn!!
Kota Kinabalu, 12 April 2012 :
The mother of a 12-year-old - who was wrongly reported missing when she was actually at her stepfather's house - was detained by police on April 8, 2012.
The 28-year-old single mother was taken in for questioning with regard to certain matters. Deputy City Police Chief Supt. M. Chandra said she is under remand until April 14, 2012.
Meanwhile, Chandra also confirmed that the girl was safely back in her house in Kepayan Ridge since April 7, 2012.
She was reported missing after going down to buy some groceries near her house at about 2pm on March 31, 2012.
However, Chandra said the girl had stayed for a week at her stepfather's house in Kampung Kolopis, Penampang.
However, posters appealing to the public to help find her are still posted around town while a major bank (RHB) continues to erroneously advertise half page colour public alerts with phone numbers to contact in the newspapers (not Daily Express).
According to a close relative, the girl was quiet and shy who respected her elders until she entered Primary Six this year.
"She started to misbehave, she wouldn't listen to advice and she would go off without informing us," she said, adding that she suspected the girl behaved in such a way after getting involved with the wrong crowd.
"In fact, this is not the first time she had run away from home.
The first time was when she said she wanted to go out to buy some stuff at the grocery nearby but we later found out that she went to her stepfather's house without telling us," said the relative who lives in the same house.
"When we asked her stepfather's family how she ended up at their house, we were told that they met coincidentally somewhere along the Penampang road but how could a child her age go there alone?," she asked.
"So this time when she went missing, her mother called the stepfather who admitted that she was in his family home in Kg. Kolopis In Penampang," she said.
