Hachiko, the legendary loyal dog in Japan

Call this legendary loyalty and love. Hachiko (November 10, 1923–March 8, 1935), was a legendary loyal dog in Tokyo Japan, remembered for his remarkable loyalty to his owner, even many years after his owner's death.

In 1924, Hidesaburō Ueno, a professor in the agriculture department at the University of Tokyo, took in Hachikō, a golden brown Akita dog as a pet. After that they become inseparable.

Hachikō greeted his master at the end of each day at the nearby Shibuya Station in Tokyo.

The human and pet pair continued their daily routine until May 1925, when Professor Ueno did not return. The professor had suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage and died, never returning to the train station where Hachikō was waiting.

Every day for the next nine years Hachiko continued waiting faithfully for his master without fail at the Shibuya station.

The permanent fixture at the train station attracted the attention of other commuters.

People who frequented the Shibuya train station had seen Hachikō and Professor Ueno together each day before.

This time, they brought Hachikō treats and food to nourish him during his long faithful 9 years wait.

Hachiko waited for his master one last time on 8 March 1935 where the faithful dog died.

His stuffed and mounted remains are kept at the National Science Museum of Japan in Ueno, Tokyo for everyone to see as a symbol of love, loyalty and faithfullness.

Each year on April 8, Hachikō's devotion is honored with a solemn ceremony of remembrance at Tokyo's Shibuya railroad station. Hundreds of dog lovers often turn out to honor his memory and loyalty.



Hachiko's legendary love and loyalty also inspired 2 movies, one produced in 1987 in Japan and another produced in 2009, directed and starred by Hollywood's famous Richard Gere.

This case happened on sunday 9th January 2011 and shocked Malaysians.

Two killer dogs in Penang, Malaysia, attacked a man and he died.

The man is not a Malaysian, but a visiting environmentalist from Ireland.

GEORGE TOWN, Penang, Malaysia : An Irish tourist died after he was attacked by two dogs at an organic farm in Teluk Bahang, about 25km from Georgetown.

The ears of Maurice Sullivan, 50, were bitten off and his chin was almost torn off in the attack which occurred at about 10am Sunday, 9th January 2011.

He also suffered bites on his body.

The cause of death has not been determined as it is learnt that the victim could have suffered a heart attack because of the trauma.

Sullivan, a volunteer helper, had gone to the farm with his 28-year-old Polish friend Agnieszka Jablonska to photograph organic plants there.

Balik Pulau Chief of Police, Superitenden Mohd Hatta Mohd Zain said Jablonska had then walked to another part of the farm to take photographs of plants, leaving Sullivan alone before the attack.

“We are investigating why the canines attacked Sullivan,” Supt Mohd Hatta said, adding that the case was now classified as sudden death.

Jablonska, who works as a welfare home caretaker in Ireland, said Sullivan was visiting Penang as a voluntary environmentalist.

“He invited me to join him. We had earlier visited Grik in Perak and Pahang before arriving here,” she said.

Jablonska said they had known each other for 10 years and dated for a few years.

“I arrived in Malaysia on Nov 11 and was scheduled to leave on Feb 11. Maurice had been here since August.

“I do not want to stay here any longer. I want to leave immediately,” she said.

A post-mortem will be carried out at the Penang Hospital by senior consultant forensic pathologist Datuk Dr Bhupinder Singh at 9am today.

And as of today, the Doctor said there are 50 dog bites injury on the victim's body.
