Sabahans and Sarawakians below 35 barred from working in Singapore

Malaysians above the age of 18 are allowed to work in Singapore except for male natives from Sabah and Sarawak whose age limit has been raised to 35.

The new ruling was imposed as an “administrative punishment” after a series of crimes and fights involving rowdy native Sabahans and Sarawakians in the republic.

It is learnt that several high profile murders involving Sarawakians and Sabahans in Ang Mo Kio Avenue, Kallang, and also Geylang in recent years have contributed towards the stricter regulations.

The new ruling has caused much difficulties to law-abiding Sabahan and Sarawakian native men, mainly unskilled and odd-job workers to work on the island.

Fresh workers below 35 were barred entry while those within that age group and already working there could not renew their work permits after they expire within two years.

Gagasan Dayak Iban Bersatu Malaysia (GAIU) president Sai Malaka said although the ruling was not made official by the Singapore Manpower Ministry (MOM), all work permit applications by native men from Sabah and Sarawak below the age of 35 were automatically rejected.

“I feel that this measure is very extreme and discriminatory towards native Sabahans and Sarawakians,” he said.

Sai added that Sarawakian and Sabahan men were skilled workers especially in the oil and gas sector, fabrication and factory maintenance.

He said since the ruling took effect, many Sarawakians and Sabahans who were unable to work in Singapore had opted to work in factories in Johor, particularly around Pasir Gudang.

“Luckily the government is developing the oil and gas hub in Pengerang near here. The project is now providing much needed work for these unemployed workers,” he told The Star yesterday.

State Unity, Human Resource, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman M. Asojan said that he was also aware of the issue and urged Sabahans and Sarawakians who were unable to get into Singapore to take up the 42,000 jobs available in the various industries in Johor.

Meanwhile, a spokesman from MOM confirmed that Singapore had tightened the policies governing the hiring and retention of foreign manpower in the last few years to moderate the growth of foreign work force as well as to promote productivity-driven economic growth.

He said that foreign manpower from all sources were required to meet various criteria to be eligible for work passes.

“We will continue to approve or renew the work passes of workers from Sabah and Sarawak who are found to be eligible and suitable to work in Singapore,” said the spokesman.

Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore Datuk Md Hussin Nayan said that during the elections in Singapore, one of the issues raised was over the high number of foreign workers there and the government had taken steps to address the matter by minimising the intake of unskilled worker.

Over 100 foreign journalists to cover prince William and Kate Middleton visit to Malaysia

Wherever they go, the press and international media follow and so, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s inaugural visit in Malaysia will be no different.

Over 100 journalists and photographers from Britain, international wires and the foreign media will make their way here to report on the royal couple’s stay from Thursday to Sunday, 13 September to 16 September 2012.

For Britain itself, representatives from about 60 media organisations including television stations and newspapers will be here to cover the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s trip.

“The British media include the BBC, ITN (Independent Television News) and newspapers such as the Daily Mail and The Sunday Telegraph,” said a source from the British High Commission.

The source said magazines such as weekly celebrity magazine Hello! will also cover the visit here.

Apart from the British media, the source said the media from countries such as China, Indonesia and Australia will be flying representatives to Malaysia.

International wire agencies such as Reuters, AP and Xinhua have also accredited with the high commission to gain access to events graced by the royal couple.

Prince William and Kate will be in Malaysia as part of a worldwide tour to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 60-year reign.

Kate is expected to make her first speech in a foreign land here in Kuala Lumpur, where she will address staff members and patients at a Malaysian hospice.

The royal pair will visit Kuala Lumpur first before flying off to Sabah.

After that, they will head off to the Solomon Islands on September 16 for a three-day trip and make their final stop in Tuvalu from September 18 to 19.

Hamida Djandoubi, the last person to be executed by guillotine in France, 10 September 1977

Hamida Djandoubi was the last person to be guillotined in France, at Baumettes Prison in Marseille. He died, headless on 10 September 1977.

The guillotine is a device used for carrying out executions by decapitation, consists of a tall upright frame from which an angled blade is suspended. This blade is raised with a rope, and the condemned's neck is positioned beneath it. The blade then falls rapidly, severing the head from the body. Death is instant.

Hamida Djandoubi, was a Tunisian immigrant who had been convicted of the torture and murder of 21-year-old Elisabeth Bousquet, his former girlfriend, in Marseille. Marcel Chevalier served as chief executioner.

Born in Tunisia around 1949, in 1968 Djandoubi started living in Marseille and working in a grocery store. He went on to work as a landscaper but had a workplace accident in 1971 that resulted in the loss of two-thirds of his right leg.

In 1973, a 21-year-old woman named Elisabeth Bousquet, whom Djandoubi had met in the hospital while recovering from his amputation, filed a complaint against him, stating that he had tried to force her into prostitution.

After his arrest and eventual release from custody during the spring of 1973, Djandoubi drew two other young girls into his confidence and then forced them to "work" for him.

Djandoubi deserved to be executed that way because in July 1974, he kidnapped Bousquet and took her into his home and in full view of the terrified girls, he beat the woman before stubbing a lit cigarette all over her breasts and genital area.

Djandoubi took her by car to the outskirts of Marseille and strangled her there.

On his return Djandoubi warned the two girls to say nothing of what they had seen. Bousquet's body was discovered in a shed by a boy on 7 July 1974.

One month later, Djandoubi kidnapped another girl who managed to escape and report him to police.

After a lengthy pre-trial process, Djandoubi eventually appeared in court in Aix-en-Provence on charges of torture-murder, rape and premeditated violence on 24 February 1977. His main defence revolved around the supposed effects of the amputation of his leg six years earlier which his lawyer claimed had driven him to a paroxysm of alcohol abuse and violence, turning him into a different man.

On 25 February 1977, he was condemned to death and at 4:40 a.m., 10th September 1977 he was executed by guillotining. He died as a headless man!!!!!

Other hardcore criminals executed by the guillotine in France were two child murderers Christian Ranucci (guillotined on 28 July 1976) and Jérôme Carrein (guillotined on 23 June 1977).

That is the story of Hamida Djandoubi, the last person executed via the fearsome guillotine in France.

Guillotine executions was abolished in France in 1981 following the election of François Mitterrand.

Young pregnant girl, bashed up by her evil husband in Perak, Malaysia

A 19-year-old Malaysian girl, Amanda Fong has taken her marriage frustrations to Facebook after her evil, stupid and super crazy husband, Calven Chik Foo Keong, allegedly beat her up ruthlessly.

She also claims to be two months pregnant.

Amanda, the petite girl posted three videos showing CCTV footage which captured scenes of her husband bashing her and being aggressive toward her mother.

It is unclear what the argument was triggered by. Ms. Fong said that she tried to escape by reaching for the door release button but was obstructed by her husband.

In the videos, the evil man can be seen pulling her hair, slamming her on the floor, sitting on her, choking her and dragging her across the room.

Although she is seen trying to retaliate, she is unable to overcome her attacker.

She gets up at one point to go to the toilet as she needed to throw up. However, the bashing continued as soon as she returned.

The girl, believed to live in Malaysia, has gained tremendous support from netizens after she came out with her story.

She also uploaded images of bruises allegedly sustained from the beating up.

Outraged, many of the netizens are calling for justice to be done and have shown support for Ms. Fong by sharing her story with others.

A SCANDAL allegedly involving former Umno leader Lajim Ukin was the reason why Umno was happy to see the Sabah politician defect to Pakatan Rakyat.

PETALING JAYA: The real reason why Sabah veteran politician Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin resigned from all his posts in Umno and threw his support behind Anwar Ibrahim’s Pakatan Rakyat was because of a scandal that is about to explode, popular blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin said today.

He said Lajim had realised that he had no future in Umno and that he would not be selected as a Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the coming general election.

"Lajim is carrying too much baggage. And this baggage is going to be revealed immediately after nomination day of GE13," Raja Petra said in his Malaysia-Today portal today.

Raja Petra added that Sabah Chief Minister DatuK Seri Musa Aman knew about the scandal and that Lajim was to be dropped as a candidate in the coming general election as a result of the scandal.

"Realising that his future is no longer bright, Lajim woke up one morning and decided to join the opposition to fight for reforms."

Islamic college project

The scandal, according to Raja Petra, allegedly involved Lajim promising his financial backer – named only as Mr W – a RM50 million contract to build an Islamic college in Beaufort in 2007.

Raja Petra said Lajim wanted Mr W – a Bruneian who had migrated to Sabah – to pay his commission upfront, supposedly as election funds for the 12th general election.

"Over the last five years since 2007, Mr W has paid Lajim a total of RM8 million. However, Mr W never got the project.

"What Mr W received instead was 55 undated cheques totalling RM3 million. But all these cheques are worthless and Mr W is hopping mad and now realises he is not going to get the project, nor his money back," said Raja Petra, who also posted photographs of the cheques in his blog.

Raja Petra also claimed that the so-called RM50 million Islamic college does not exist, calling it a scam.

He added that Mr W, who had been Lajim’s financial backer for a long time, no longer wants to fund Lajim and wants his money back.

"If he does not get it, he is going to go public on this. And because of that Umno can no longer retain Lajim in the coming general election.

"And because of that, also, Lajim has suddenly woken up and is joining the opposition to fight for reforms – justice, transparency, accountability, good governance, an end to corruption and abuse of power, and all that s***," said Raja Petra.

Pakatan will get whacked

Raja Petra warned that tainted candidates like Lajim would result in Pakatan "getting whacked in East Malaysia".

He said Anwar (Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) was making a mistake in hoping that the road to Putrajaya would become clearer with politicians like Lajim with him.

"Having Lajim and those of his ilk as your partners will only ensure that BN will remain in power.

"I know you [Anwar] want to become prime minister. But this type of thing is only going to make your dream become our nightmare.

"As the Malays would say: why would we want to reject ‘penyamum’ and vote for ‘lanun’? We said we want change, meaning change for the better, not change for the worse," he added.

Raja Petra also revealed that Lajim was asking too much from Anwar – apart from cash, he also allegedly wanted to become one of the three deputy prime ministers if/when Pakatan marches into Putrajaya.

And if he can't become one of the three deputy prime ministers, then he wants at least the post of Sabah chief minister, said Raja Petra.

"But Lajim can't be made the chief minister of Sabah – and certainly not one of the three deputy prime ministers. And this is not because those posts have been promised to others, although that is one reason, but because he is carrying too much baggage," said Raja Petra.

Berikutan itu, beliau membuat laporan di Balai Polis Ampang Jaya.

Imuda berkata suspek kemungkinan terdiri daripada tiga atau empat individu dan masuk melalui tingkap dan jeriji hadapan yang diumpil menggunakan pemutar skru.

"Mereka (suspek) sempat makan kuih raya dan minum air sirap yang berada di dapur," katanya.

Imuda yang mula dikenali dalam sitkom komedi 'Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu' itu berkata kes pecah rumah dan ragut telah banyak kali berlaku di kawasan kediamannya dan isterinya, Zabarina Haja Mushadi, 30, pernah cuba diragut namun diselamatkan jiran yang melihat kejadian itu.

"Bulan lepas rumah jiran hadapan saya juga pernah dimasuki perompak," katanya.

Sementara itu, Timbalan Ketua Polis Daerah Ampang Jaya Supt Nazri Nawawi ketika dihubungi mengesahkan kejadian tersebut.

"Kita sedang mengesan suspek dan kes disiasat di bawah Seksyen 457 Kanun Keseksaan kerana pecah rumah yang jika disabitkan kesalahan, hukuman penjara maksimum lima tahun dan denda," katanya.

Malaysian Badminton Superstar, Lee Chong Wei to wed Wong Mew Choo, next year, 2013

Malaysian top SHUTTLER and double Olympic silver medalist, Datuk Lee Chong Wei, fis expected to end his bachelorhood next year in 2013.

The world No. 2 is expected to wed former Malaysia's national top women's singles player Wong Mew Choo.

The glampour couple has been courting for more than a decade.

Lee Chong Wei however, did not give any tentative date or venue for the wedding.

"Maybe I will step down next year because there are no big competitions and start planning for the wedding. I am not young any more."

Wong, 29, the former Malaysian woman number 1, is now a coach at Bukit Jalil Sports School after she quit competitive badminton last year in 2011.

"We have known each other for a long time. As I had to focus on my career, it was normal to have misunderstandings," said Chong Wei.

Chong Wei said he broke up with Wong in 2009 when he was undergoing training in South Korea but patched up with her a year later and the bond had since grown stronger.

"It is normal to go through difficult times in a relationship but I do not want such issues to affect my career or relationship.

Malaysian must strive towards an accident free workplace, Lee Lam Thye

NIOSH Chairman, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye stated today that although the country’s industrial accident rate had been halved over the past 10 years the remaining challenge would be to build and foster an OSH culture in Malaysia and strive towards an accident-free workplace environment.

The latest statistics from the Ministry of Human Resources indicated that the industrial accident rate had fallen from 10.3 cases for every 1,000 workers in 2002 to 5.72 cases last year.

OSH practitioners, employers and employees as well as Malaysians in general are pleased to note that the rate of accidents at workplaces has been halved over the past 10 years.

The reduction in the accident rate at the workplace is a reflection of the commitment and joint efforts by the Government, employers and employees to reduce workplace accidents.

While we are pleased to note the success of the joint efforts by all parties concerned the biggest challenge that remains is not only to further reduce the accident rate in the days ahead but also to build and foster an OSH Culture in Malaysia and strive towards an accident-free workplace environment.

For a start we need to benchmark ourselves against the developed countries which only have 3-4 accidents per 1,000 workers.

The Occupational Safety and Health Master Plan 2010-2015 must be given utmost attention by all the parties concerned to achieve further reduction in the rate of industrial accidents.

Companies must not profit at the expense of safety because if accidents occurs lives may be lost and productivity will be affected. OSH ownership in every organisation is of paramount importance.

The focal point of safety is the human being or the employee who needs protection in all respect of his/her life.

An accident prevention coupled with an OSH Management strategy should therefore be adopted by all companies. To achieve the total promotion of safety and health at work and elsewhere organizational measures for accident prevention, motivation and behavioural change must be adopted.

Speaking after the official launching of the Occupational Safety and Health Seminar for the Tourism Industry in SABAH, by Y.B Dr Joachim Gunsalam Kundasang Assemblyman on behalf the Sabah Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Tan Sri Lee said it is the responsibility of management to ensure that safety is a culture at their organisation, not just a priority. There is an urgent need to translate OSH knowledge into behaviour and practical application. OSH sloganeering is not the answer. We must avoid a situation where behind all the OSH banners and signages the workplace hazards are not addressed and controlled.

In this time of global competition and sweeping change, it is not enough for companies to make safety a priority. Priorities change but cultures stand the test of time. Safety must be a culture and a core value at the workplace. And certainly managing occupational safety and health ensures business competitiveness.

Managing Occupational Safety and Health Towards Business Competitiveness is of utmost importance and employers must see training as an INVESTMENT and not an EXPENSE.

Management or employers must recognize OSH of employees as an integral part of business management. Concerns for the bottom line must be looked at with equal gravity with OSH issues at the workplace. After all they are both concerned with the viability of the business enterprise.

Employees are often regarded by management to be the most important asset of any organisation. Hence, it makes sense that this particular asset should be protected in terms of health and safety and nurtured to ensure that it continues to be productive.

In any business enterprise, the issue of preserving and retaining the employees is most urgent. Neil Armstrong - manusia pertama jejakkan kaki ke bulan apda 1969 dan meninggal dunia, 43 tahun kemudian pada 25 Ogos 2012 ketika berusia 82 tahun akibat komplikasi pembedahan jantung.



Lance Armstrong - manusia pertama menang Tour de France, lumba basikal paling berprestij di dunia sebanyak 7 kali berturut turut, tapi ditarik balik semua gelarannya kerana pengunaan dadah terlarang untuk tingkatkan prestasi.

Armstrong ini kalau diterjemahkan ke bahasa Malaysia secara direct ialah Lengan Kuat!!!

Pandelela Rinong, gadis Bidayuh dari Sarawak mencatat sejarah wanita pertama Malaysia menang pingat Sukan Olimpik apabila menang gangsa acara terjun platform 10 meter di sukan Olimpik London pada 10 Ogos 2012. Kejayaan Pandelela menjadi tajuk akhbar utama Malaysia.



George Lipih, rakyat Sarawak dari Sri Aman, diculik lanun Nigeria pada 4 Ogos dan dibebaskan dan tiba di tanah air pada 26 Ogos 2012. Kesengsaraan dan kesyukuran George juga menjadi tajuk utama di Malaysia.

Filem Rambo lakonan Slyvester Stallone hanya fiksyen. Kita pernah menonton filem Rambo 1 hingga 4 dimana Rambo secara solo membunuh 500 tentera musuh di Vietnam, Afghanistan dan Myanmar atau Burma. Namun itu filem.

Ni Rambo sebenar, The White Death atau nama sebenarnya Simo Hayha yang menembak mati 705 askar musuh ketika Perang Dunia ke 2!!!

Simo Hayhay berkhidmat untuk tentera Finland dan tentera Russia adalah musuhnya. 500 tentera Russia dibunuh dengan rifle Sniper manakala 200 lebih lagi dibunuh dengan sub-machine gun.

Tentera Russia yang berang menghantar 1 batalion tentera untuk menembaknya namun tidak berjaya, begitu juga bedilan Artileri gagal membunuhnya.

2 Gambar bogel Putera Harry mula mula disebarkan blog hiburan popular Amerika Syarikat TMZ.com yang menunjukkan Putera itu tanpa seurat benang bersama seorang wanita di sebuah bilik hotel di las Vegas, Amerika Syarikat.

Harry dikatakan berbogel ketika bermain strip pool iaitu siapa yang kalah main pool serupa main snooker dan billiard, maka dia kena tanggalkan pakaiannya satu persatu hingga telanjang bulat.

Istana Buckingham mengesahkan 2 gambar itu adalah Putera Harry.

Saya tak perlu lah tunjuk gambar itu kerana menghormati privacy keluarga di Raja dan kerana ini adalah hak peribadinya, namun ribuan laman web dan blog ada menunjukkan gambar itu.

Teladannya, jika anda berbogel dan rakan anda mempunyai kamera phone, besar kemungkinan gambar anda akan disebarkan oleh pihak tidak bertanggung jawab seperti dalam banyak kes yang pernah berlaku melibatkan selebriti di seluroh dunia.

Untuk rekod, Putera Harry yang lahir pada 1984, kini berusia 27 tahun adalah pewaris tahkta Britain, ketiga dalam senarai selepas ayahnya Putera Charles dan abangnya Putera William.
