Kerajaan siar tiga surat Dr Mahathir kepada Israel

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Perdana Menteri Malaysia pada 1981-2003

KUALA LUMPUR, 29 Februari 2012 (sumber Berita Haria Online)

Dalam satu kenyataan hari ini, beliau berkata surat berkenaan ialah;

i) Surat daripada Dr Mahathir kepada Yitzhak Rabin, Perdana Menteri Israel, bertarikh 21 Disember 1993;

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, ex Malaysian Premier launches memoirs

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was the fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia and the longest serving Prime Minister of Malaysia. He held the post for 22 years from 1981 to 2003. His political career spanned almost 40 years.

On Tuesday, 8th March 2011, Mahathir launched his memoirs in a book titled A Doctor in The House.

When launching the book, Mahathir said he is unconcerned about possible lawsuits over his memoirs.

Dr Mahathir said he was driven to tell the truth in the autobiography :A Doctor in the House."

“There will be those who will not be satisfied.

“If they want to sue, sue lah,” he quipped after launching the book at Mid Valley Megamall.

Dr Mahathir said he had kept its publication a secret until the launch date to avoid a possible court injunction to stop its release.

“I want people to read it. Whatever they think of it is their prerogative,” he said.

It took him eight years to write the autobiography, he said. “I did not type. I used long hand.”

Dr Mahathir said during his tenure as Prime Minister, he was described as a dictator.

“(In the autobiography) I tried to prove that I am not. But some people will still feel otherwise,” he said.

To a question, Dr Mahathir said that through his biography, he wanted to deliver the message that it was not impossible to achieve anything when one is willing to learn.

“I was a commoner, I was not trained in the field of administration, economics or finance. But you can learn if you want to learn. The best reward is not monetary gains but the results of your effort,” he said.

Dr Mahathir also took a swipe at Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim whom he accused had claimed credit for certain things.

“He (Anwar) is claiming that the setting up of UIA (International Islamic University Malaysia) was his idea,” he said.

On his next project, Dr Mahathir said he would look into rewriting The Malay Dilemma.

“When they (the Malays) were poor they were in a dilemma. When they are rich, there is a bigger dilemma,” he said.

The Malay Dilemma is a controversial 188 pages book written by Tun Dr Mahathir in 1970, 11 years before he became Malaysia's 4th Prime Minister.

At the time of publication, Mahathir had just lost his parliamentary seat, been expelled from the ruling party UMNO and Malaysia had recently been rocked by the racial riots later known as the May 13th Incident on May 13th, 1969.

The book analyses Malaysian history and politics in terms of race, and posits the following basic positions:

1. The Malay race are the indigenous people (bumiputras) of Malaysia.

2. The sole national language is the Malay language and all other races are to learn it.

3. The tolerance and non-confrontational nature of the Malays has allowed them to be subjugated in their own land by the other races with the collusion of the British.

4. A program of affirmative action is required to correct Malaysian Chinese hegemony in business.

The dilemma thus, was whether Malays should accept this governmental aid — and Mahathir's position was that they should.

Prone to sweeping statements about other races, such as describing Jews as hook-nosedthe book entrenched Mahathir's image as a Malay ultra.

However, Mahathir also dissects the multiple failings of his own race, and the book was intended as a solution leading away from violence towards a harmonious, integrated Malaysia (albeit one where political and economic power is firmly concentrated in the hands of the Malays).

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad shared his experience at the Epworth Hospital in Melbourne, Australia

Epworth Hospital is capable of performing Robotic prostatectomy operations

Former Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was recently warded at the Epworth Hospital in Australia for suspected viral infection in the chest. Tun Dr Mahathir who ruled Malaysia from 1981 to 2003, shared his experience in his blog : http://chedet.co.cc/chedetblog/2010/10/melbourne-experience-the-hospi.html#more
is is his writings in full :

1. After three days in the Epworth Hospital, it was suggested that I be discharged but should continue treatment under the Hospital in the Home service.

2. The Home Hospital has a full staff of doctors, specialists and nurses. They will carry out the full hospital treatment, periodical medical examination and treatment, intravenous drips, physiotherapy etc. They do not stay with patients but would visit at the designated time and stay as long as necessary.

3. It is far better than house-call by doctors as they can only give limited service. You feel you are being well looked after as in the hospital, but you have the ambience of home and family.

4. I don't know if we have this service or not but I believe it can contribute to being a developed country.

5. Another service I experienced is the ambulance service. The two ambulance personnel are very highly trained to give first aid including CPR, proper handling of fractures, take blood pressure and heart rate, ECG and other signs and symptoms.

6. They handle their patients very competently, are in continuous communication with the hospital to ensure preparation for receiving the patients.

7. I believe an effort was made by local doctors to provide this kind of service in Kuala Lumpur. Unfortunately after the ambulances had been acquired the financiers backed out. The Return on Investment was not good enough.

8. The Government does not operate a full ambulance service. Nor do all hospitals provide such service.

9. There are now many hospitals in KL - both public and private. A good ambulance service can save many lives.

10. Maybe the Government could afford to support the superior ambulance service in one way or another - at least until they become viable. What we need is just one. If several such service is licensed, all would be likely to fail.

penswastaan IJN, apa kata Tun M dan Lim Kit Siang??

Dewasa ini, isu cadangan menswastakan Institut Jantung Negara, IJN mengisi laporan muka hadapan media cetak dan elektronik tempatan. Adakan penswastaan itu benar benar perlu?

Lim Kit Siang nyata BENAR BENAR TIDAK BERSETUJU MELALUI KATA KATA BERIKUT DALAM BLOGNYA :

(dipetik dari blog lim kit siang)
PRIVATISED HOSPITALS ARE RUN ON A BUSINESS BASIS WITH OBJECTIVE OF EARNING PROFITS - TO MAKE MONEY
It is unlikely that Sime Darby will run IJN as a social and charitable hospital, like a government hospital. Its objective is to earn as much profits as possible. There are too many private hospitals in the country which charge substantially, which only the rich could afford.
With Sime Darby at the controls of IJN, the poor who form the majority of the patients will suffer, and being unable to pay, they will not have access to health care offered by IJN as of today.
The government stands to lose by giving control of IJN away:-
1 IJN is a going concern and successfully managed and bringing great benefits to the people and a sound reputation internationally as a well-organised heart centre.
2. as an institute with excellent facilities and world class medical expertise, it is well placed to lead the battle against the threat of heart disease as the number one killer in the country. This is the sacred duty of IJN. This role cannot be performed by a private hospital whose aim is to make profits.
3. The government must not relinquish its responsibility by giving up the one place where heart patients look confidently for care and treatment, in particular the poor of this country.

1. I have always been for privatisation. In fact privatisation started during my time. People know all about the Government companies, departments and functions which were privatised. Some were successful, some were not. But I don't think people know about privatisation proposals which had been rejected. I know about them because the proposals were studied carefully before they were rejected. There were reasons of course but there was no necessity to make public the rejections or the reasons.2. With regard to the Institut Jantung Negara, I must say I have a personal attachment to it. I don't think I need to explain why. The IJN is really the institution that is physically closest to my heart.3. IJN is a unique institution. It started as a Government department but the Government felt that it was unfair to put the staff on Government pay scheme. So it was corporatised. As a corporate body it has been successful in giving the people good service. It is one institution that has not been subjected to criticisms and vilifications by the press or the public as most other institutions have been. We often hear of its many "firsts" and we are proud of them.

Salam....
