Miss Angola, Leila Lopes is Miss Universe 2011

It is time for African women to shine in the world stage.

Leila Lopes, 25 from Angola, Africa is the 2011 Miss Universe.

With this, she is crowned as the most beautiful women on earth, shocking and surprising many.

Not many expected this result. The global audience as usual expected the winner from traditional stronghold of Miss Universe such as Latin America.

But they were wrong. The pundits were wrong.

Now, black Africans women, rule the world!

Miss Universe 2011, Miss Angola Leila Lopes, 25 was crowned at the ceremony in Sao Paulo, Brazil, beating 88 other young women on Monday night, 12th September 2011.

The whole of Africa jubilates when this announcement was made. Also celebrating were Black women around the world. Black rules. Ask President Obama.

Beauties from all over the world, or exactly 89 nations spent 3 weeks, lashing out their inner and outter beauty for the 60th anniversary of the most famous beauty contest that attracted one billion worldwide audience or one 6th of the world population.!!

2010 Miss Universe, Mexico's Ximena Navarrete, was on hand to relinquish her crown to Lopes.

Lopes said, "Thank God I'm very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn't change a thing,".

Lopes responded to her interview question of what she would change of her physical characteristics. "I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow these for the rest of my life."

Lopes appeared before judges including race car driver Helio Castroneves to actress Vivica A. Fox and journalist Connie Chung in a bright yellow bikini and form-fitting gold and silver sequined evening gown.

Rounding out the top five at the 2011 Miss Universe pageant were Miss Brazil, Miss China, Miss Philippines and 23-year-old Miss Ukraine Olesia Stefanko, who was the first runner-up.

Miss Philippines was 3rd and the fourth place went to Miss China.

The top ten included exotic beauties from Australia, Costa Rica, France, Ukraine, Portugal, Panama, Philippines, Angola, China and Brazil.

Meanwhile Miss Colombia Raises Eyebrows Before the Pageant started.

Reports that Miss Colombia had shunned underpants during some of the pre-pageant activities led organizers to reprimand the 22-year-old Catalina Robayo.

But to me Miss Colombia is as sexy as many Latin American women.

Akiko Kojima, the first ever Asian to win Miss Universe pageant

Akiko Kojima was born on October 29, 1936 in Tokyo.

In 1959 she created history as the first Asian to ever win the Miss Universe title.

Ever since, that unique feat has been equalled only once by her countrywomen, 48 years later to be exact in the form of Miss Universe 2007, Riyo Mori.

Akiko was just a 22-year-old model from Tokyo, Japan when she beat 4 other finalists from Norway, USA, England, and Brazil for the 1959 Miss Universe crown in Long Beach, California.

At 5 feet 7 inches (1.70 metres), Akiko measurement of 37–23–38 inches (94–58–96 cm), was at that time described as "incredible dimensions".

She denied having undergone breast surgery.

Soon after her reign, Akiko settled into a quiet married life.

It took 48 long years before another Japanese national, Riyo Mori, equalled Akiko's historic achievement.

Riyo Mori won the Miss Universe pageant in 2007 in Mexico City.

Congrats to both Akiko Kojima and Riyo Mori.

Kurara Chibana, the Japanese girl who nearly became Miss Universe in 2006

In the 2006 Miss Universe held in Los Angeles, USA, Miss Japan 2006, Kurara Chibana, nearly won the title.

She was narrowly defeated by eventual champion Zuleyka Rivera of Puerto Rico.

However, she still won the best national costume.

Her feat at the 2006 Miss Universe, made her instant celebrity in Japan as well as in many parts of Asia.

Kurara Chibana was born on March 27, 1982 in Naha City, Okinawa Perfecture, Japan.

This beauty stands at 5 feet 8 inches.

Is she available? I don't know.... Ask Kurara Chibana yourself!!

Riyo Mori, Miss Japan who became Miss Universe in 2007

At the 2007 Miss Universe pageant in Mexico, Riyo Mori became only the second Japanese woman to win the Miss Universe title.

The first Miss Universe winner from Japan was Akiko Kojima, 48 years earlier in the 1959 Miss Universe pageant in Long Beach, California, USA.

Mori is the eleventh Asian woman to win the pageant, the most recent being Lara Dutta of India who was Miss Universe 2000.

Mori was the third Japanese woman to have been placed in the top five at Miss Universe in the past decade.

Miyako Miyazaki placed fourth runner-up at Miss Universe 2003, and Mori's predecessor Kurara Chibana was first runner-up in 2006.

Mori aims to use her success and popularity as a springboard into humanitarian causes. "I think I have a samurai soul, I'm very patient, and I can serve others."

After the success of Akiko Kojima and Riyo Mori, no Japanese women managed to emulate their success.

Could it be Miss Universe 2012 and so on?? Only God knows.

Miss Mexico - Jimena Navarrete is Miss Universe 2010..

Miss Navarette is indeed very beautiful and sexy... I wonder who is the lucky guy to ever win her heart??? Perhaps it's me ? - a lone guy from Malaysia??

Being crowned as Miss Universe is every beautiful woman dreams in this universe.

And 22 year-old Mexican beauty, Jimena Navarrete, dreams was fulfilled. She has been crowned Miss Universe 2010.

Miss Navarrete, from Guadalajara, won over the judges in Las Vegas after telling them it was vital to teach children family values.

"I want to give my parents a big hug," she said. "There was a lot of effort and a lot of sacrifice."

She wore a long red dress for the evening gown competition after previously modelling a violet bikini.

When asked how she felt about unsupervised Internet use, Miss Navarrete said the internet is important but parents need to be careful.

"I do believe that internet is an indispensable, necessary tool for the present time," she said through an interpreter. "We must be sure to teach them the values that we learned as a family."

First runner-up was Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillipps, while second runner-up was Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell.

Miss Navarrete, who has been modeling since she was 15, is Mexico's second Miss Universe.

Lupita Jones of Mexico won the title in 1991. Miss Navarrete replaces Miss Universe 2009 Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela.

Her win thwarted Miss Venezuela Marelisa Gibson from giving the South American country a third consecutive victory.

She was immediately congratulated on Twitter by Mexican President Felipe Calderon and his wife, Margarita Zavala.

"Congratulations to Jimena Navarrete for her deserved victory as Miss Universe," Calderon said. "This will serve Mexico, [and] our image as a country."

In a reply to a question posed by the Spanish reporters on the contagious issue of Arizona immigration laws, the newly crowned Miss Universe supported the Latin Americans and the Mexicans when she said that people from those countries work hard to fulfill their dreams.

She also spoke of significance of parents’ role in inculcating values in children.

Miss Navarrete won prizes which include an undisclosed salary, a luxury New York apartment with living expenses, a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy with housing after her reign, as well as jewelry, clothes and shoes.

Miss USA has not been named Miss Universe since Brook Lee won the title in 1997.

The pageant started as a local bathing suit competition in Long Beach, California in 1952.

Miss Universe is owned by Donald Trump and broadcast on NBC.

Heck even the Mexican Drug Lords are proud of her...!!!
