Persekutuan Bolasepak Dunia, FIFA tidak senang hati dan mahu menyiasat kekalahan besar Indonesia 0-10 di tangan Bahrain pada saingan kelayakan Piala Dunia 2014.

Bahrain perlu menang lebih 8 gol dalam perlawanan itu dan mereka berjaya melakukannya.

Jaringan 10-0 itu diperolehi setelah Indonesia hanya bermain 10 orang pada awal permainan setelah penjaga golnya dilayangkan kad merah.

Selepas itu Bahrain menjaringkan gol demi gol, 10 kesemuanya.

FIFA mahu menyiasat kerana ini menimbulkan syak wasangka rasuah bolasepak.

Ini kerana Indonesia dikenali antara negara paling rasuah di dunia manakala Bahrain kaya dengan minyak dan boleh membayar jutaan ringgit kepada pemain Indonesia.

Mereka termasuk 6 pemain hebat Sabah iaitu penyerang profilik kebangsaan yang pernah menjaringkan 2 gol ketika Malaysia tewas 2-4 kepada England di Stadium Merdeka, pada 1991, Matlan Marjan.

Selain Matlan, 5 lagi pemain Sabah yang digantung sepanjang hayat ialah Charles Tindi, G Raveychandran, Gerald Mojiliu, Matusin Bowie (tiada kaitan saudara dengan penyanyi pop British, David Bowie) dan 1 lagi yang saya tak berapa ingat.

Pemain ternama Malaysia lain yang ditangkap termasuk Azizol Abu Hanifah, Jelani Wilastra dan ramai lagi.

Hmmm sedih juga.

Namun apa sebabnya pemain ini terpaksa menjual perlawanan?

The worst soccer violence in the world, 74 dead, 1,000 injured in Port Said, Egypt, 2nd February 2012

They came to see a football match, but they ended up dead!!!

Egypt is no stranger to rioting. Riot like the Egyptians, some said. Even after long time President Hosni Mubarak was ousted by people's power last January 2011, the riots continue.

Even in soccer, people in Egypt will kill each other, just because they don't like the result. Come on man, this is soccer, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Even the great Teams like Barcelona and Brazil, lose some matches, they cannot win for 1,000 consecutive matches.

Come on Egyptians... Are you all insane??



In the incident on Wednesday 2nd February 2012 in Port Said, 74 people died and more than 1,000 were injured when violence erupted at the end of a football match which was won by the home team, Al Masry beating the nation's top team, Al Ahly 3-1.

Rival fans invaded the pitch as the final whistle blew and started throwing stones, fireworks, flares and bottles.

Players ran for their lives down the tunnel as the match turned into a bloody battle zone.

Al-Ahly star Mohamed Abo Treika said as the shocking scenes unfolded in Port Said: This is not football any more. This is war. People are dying in front of us.

He added: There is no movement and no security and no ambulances this is a horrible situation and one that can never be forgotten.

Stunned TV viewers saw live pictures of the carnage that followed al-Masrys 3-1 home victory over Cairo club al-Ahly as fans set fire to the stands.

The death toll, which officials fear could rise, includes stewards.

The 1,200 travelling al-Ahli fans were hopelessly outnumbered as there were around 13,000 al-Masry supporters in the ground.

Fans were seen cornering rivals and opposition players as others went on a wrecking spree in the stands.

At one stage a small group of riot police formed a corridor to try to protect players. But they were quickly overwhelmed and fans kicked and punched them as they fled for the relative safety of the dressing rooms.

According to some reports, the al-Ahly manager had to be rescued by a posse of police as he was being viciously beaten by an angry mob.

Egypts armed forces sent helicopters to the stadium to rescue al-Ahly players and as many supporters as they could.

Most deaths were reportedly caused by concussions, deep head wounds and suffocation from the stampede.

40 people were in serious conditions and undergoing surgery. Officials believe the violence could have been organised in advance.

Witnesses reported fans bringing knives into the ground.

It is the biggest disaster in Egypts soccer history.

Egyptian football fans are notoriously violent, particularly supporters of al-Ahly who call themselves the Ultras.

But despite extreme rivalry between the two clubs and the potential for trouble following violence at other matches in recent weeks, security had been downgraded and to me this shows that the Egyptian police is stupid as well...!!!

Police have kept a much lower profile since the mass protests in Cairo and other cities last year in 2011, which saw President Hosni Mubarak ousted from power.

All forthcoming premier league matches in Egypt were immediately cancelled until further notice and the newly elected parliament will meet today to discuss the riots.



THE HILLSBOROUGH TRAGEDY, 15 APRIL 1989

Before the Egypt incident, the worst ever football disaster was the Hillsborough disaster that occurred on 15 April 1989 at the Hillsborough football stadium, in Sheffield, England.

96 people were crushed to death and 766 injured, all fans of Liverpool.

It remains the deadliest stadium-related disaster in British history and one of the worst ever international football accidents.

The match, an FA Cup semi-final tie between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, was abandoned 6 minutes into the game.

The official inquiry into the disaster, the Taylor Report, concluded that the main reason for the disaster was the failure of police control, the findings which resulted in the elimination of standing terraces at all major football stadiums in both England and Scotland.

THE HEYSEL TRAGEDY, 29 May 1985

Among the worst ever soccer disaster before the Egyptian incident was also the Heysel Stadium Disaster, in Brussels, Belgium which happened on 29 May 1985, which again involves Liverpool, my favourite team. Very sad indeed.



39 Juventus fans died while 600 injured when escaping fans were pressed against a wall in the Heysel Stadium before the start of the 1985 European Cup Final between Liverpool of England and Juventus of Italy.

Approximately one hour before the Liverpool-Juventus final was due to kick off, a large group of Liverpool fans breached a fence separating them from a "neutral area" which contained rival Juventus fans.

The Juventus fans ran back on the terraces and away from the threat into a concrete retaining wall. Fans already seated near the wall were crushed; eventually the wall collapsed. Many people climbed over to safety, but many others died or were badly injured.

The game was played despite the disaster in order to prevent further violence, won by Juventus 1-0, via a Michel Platini penalty after Boniek was fouled.

The tragedy resulted in all English football clubs being placed under an indefinite ban by UEFA from all European competitions, which was lifted in 1990–91, with Liverpool being excluded for an additional year and several Liverpool fans prosecuted for manslaughter.

The disaster was later described as "the darkest hour in the history of the UEFA competitions".

Socrates is a classical Greece Athenian philosopher who lived thousand of years ago.

But here we are not talking about the historical philosopher, but rather one of Brazilian finest players.

He is Socrates who played for the Brazilian national team in the 1982 and 1986 World Cup.

Sadly, the former Brazilian captain Socrates, who played in the great 1982 Brazilian side which was widely-regarded as the finest team never to win a World Cup has died.

He died on Sunday, 4th December 2011 at the age of 57.

Socrates are among Brazil's best known footballers apart from Pele, Zico, Careca, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Eder, Didi, Garrincha, Vava and Falcao.

Socrates was taken to Albert Einstein Hospital late Friday, 2nd December 2011 after suffering food poisoning. He went into septic shock, placed on a life support machine but passed way overnight.

Socrates had already been hospitalised twice in August and September 2011 with bleeding in his digestive tract, and recognised after these incidents that he had problems with alcohol, especially during his playing days.

It was reported that Socrates would be buried later in a private ceremony in the town of Ribeirao Preto, 300 kilometres outside Sao Paulo, where he began his playing career in 1974 for Botafogo.

Brazilian giants Corinthians - for whom he played for six years scoring 172 goals in 297 matches and won three Sao Paulo league titles - paid a fulsome tribute to him.

Later Sunday 4th December 2011, Corinthians honoured his memory in style by winning their fifth national league championship after a goalless draw against Sao Paulo rivals Palmeiras.

The 'Timao', for whom Socrates played between 1978 and 1984, previously lifted the national title in 1990, 1998, 1999 and 2005.

Before the game, midfielder Alex said there would be no finer way to pay a fitting tribute to Socrates than for the club to get the draw they needed.

"The best way for us to celebrate his memory is the title," said Alex.

"We hope we can lift the title, to win it in the name of Socrates, for the great idol that he is."

Fans held up banners in the stands reading "Doctor Socrates, rest in peace" while a minute's silence was observed before the start.

In his heydays, Socrates was easily recognisable, standing at 6 feet 4 inches and bearded.

Socrates scored 22 goals in 60 appearances for Brazil.

He was named South American Footballer of the Year in 1983, and was also named on Pelé's FIFA 100 list in 2004.

Socrates achieved a rare phenomenon for a professional footballer, graduating as Doctor of Medicine while actively playing soccer at the highest level both for domestic league and international duties.

His younger brother, Rai also played for Brazil in the 1994 World Cup in USA where Brazil won, defeating Italy in the final in penalty shoot-outs.

Apart from Corinthians, Socrates played for 3 other Brazilian clubs > Flamengo, Santos, Botafogo and Fiorentina in Italy.



Perhaps he was best remembred for his stunning goal against USSR in the 1982 FIFA
World Cup in the preliminary round. Brazil went on to win 2-1.



Socrates also scored this stunning goal for Brazil against Italy in the 1982 FIFA World Cup. Sadly, Brazil bowed out 2-3, no thanks to Paolo Rossi's hattrick.

Socrates was also best remembred for his penalty miss in the 1986 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal match, Brazil against reigning European champion, France.

It pitted Zico, Socrates and Careca against Michel Platini, Jean Tigana and co.

The match ended 1-1 after extra time, best remembered for a Zico penalty miss and Socrates missing 2 open chances in regulation times.

In the ensuing penalty shoot-outs, Socrates stepped up to take Brazil's 1st spot kick but his kick was saved by French goal keeper, Joel Bats. Socrates took the penalty without running forward, he simply kicked the ball after taking only 2 steps, thus beginning the downfall of Brazil in the 1986 World Cup, they eventually lost the shoot-outs 3-4.

Real Madrid 7-1 Guangzhou Evergrande, Wednesday 3rd August 2011

Real Madrid is the greatest club in the world and nobody can dispute that, not even Barcelona, Liverpool and Independiente.

Real Madrid is not only the most successful club in Spanish football but is also voted by FIFA as the most successful football club of the 20th century, having won a record 31 La Liga titles, 18 Spanish "Copa del Rey" Cups, 8 Spanish Super Cups, a record 9 UEFA Champions Leagues, 2 UEFA Cups, 1 UEFA Supercup, and 3 Intercontinental Cups.

Therefore, if you put Real Madrid against any top-class football club in Asia, the result is Real Madrid will win by more than 6 goals.

That was what exactly happened on Wednesday, 3rd August 2011 as Real Madrid trashed Chinese top club and league leader - Guangzhou Evergrande, 7-1.

Before the match, Guangzhou Evergrande who have several import players, are unbeaten in the Chinese Super League.

However against the best football club in the world, Guangzhou crumbled and were easily dethroned.



Karim Benzema netted a classy brace and Cristiano Ronaldo scored a cheeky back-heel as Real Madrid triumphed in that pre-season friendly in style.

Benzema, who has struggled to establish himself in the Spanish capital, was at the centre of everything that was good about a rampant Real before he was taken off on the hour, earning a pat on the back from Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese supremo was full of praise for his men, saying that despite far inferior opposition -- and stifling humidity -- the team had performed as if it was a league fixture.

The win also means Real are unbeaten in the build-up to a season in which Mourinho will be fully expected to dethrone great rivals Barcelona, both in domestic competition and in Europe.

"I'm happy but I'm not so concerned if we win or lose or draw, the result doesn't matter," said Mourinho.

"What matters is that the team is improving in every game, the players are getting fitter and stronger and showing more quality with every game, this is what matters.

"The players are working hard as a team, not for themselves, and for the name of Real Madrid. They're happy, and I'm happy."

Frenchman Benzema crossed for German international Sami Khedira to head in totally unmarked and put the Spanish giants, who started with more or less their full-strength side, on their way after only seven minutes.

Real went 2-0 up just after the half-hour mark when the home defence went AWOL and Khedira's international teammate Mesut Ozil rounded the keeper before walking the ball in.

A rout was on the cards by the 39th minute when Benzema fired low past keeper Yang Jun, who ought to have done far better.

There was even time for Ronaldo to rattle the bar just before the break with Yang again well beaten.

It was more of the same in the second period as Real looked to put on a show at a virtually full Tianhe Stadium in the major southern city of Guangzhou.

Benzema grabbed his second three minutes after the break and Ronaldo's extravagance made it 5-0 on 56 minutes.

Real made wholesale changes on the hour, but it made no difference as Evergrande -- who are unbeaten in the Chinese Super League this season -- were simply out-classed.

Substitute Jese made it 6-0, fellow sub Angel Di Maria made it seven, before Yang Yihu grabbed a consolation with three minutes to go for the biggest cheer of the night.

Chelsea nearly humiliated by Malaysia!!! 21 July 2011

The Blues were saved from Blushes, struggling to beat Malaysia 1-0 in a friendly and only scored late in the 2nd half through a controversial Didier Drogba goal which was awarded despite the ball not crossing the goal-line completely.

Superstars in world football such as Fernando Torres, Nikolas Anelka, Frank Lampard, John Terry, Michael Essien, Jon Obi Mikel, Yossi Benayoun, Florent Malouda and Salomon Kalou could not break the Malaysian defence.



However in the end, Didier Drogba scored Chelsea's solitary winning goal via a hotly disputed free kick goal in the 78th minute.

The Goal was disputed by the Malaysian teams as well as the 84,890 strong home crowd (the biggest in Malaysian history) as it did not cross the goal line completely, and it should have been 0-0.

Star studded Chelsea was nearly humiliated by the under-strength Malaysian national side in a friendly match at the Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur on Thursday night, 21st July 2011.

The Blues only managed a 1-0 win and that winning goal saw the boal off a free kick by Drogba in the 78th minute, did not cross the goal line completely.

Remember Chelsea's Frank Lampard disallowed goal during the 1-4 England loss to Germany in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa..?? The Clear Goal by Lampard was disallowed by a FIFA class referee and yet the 50% Chelsea goal in Malaysia tonight was allowed by the referee. Why referee why??

If that was not considered a Goal, then why Drogba goal was allowed tonight 21st July 2011 in Kuala Lumpur???

Malaysia also had goal scoring chances and if they converted one of the chances as shown below, then Andre Vilass-Boas will have a hotter seat than Carlo Ancelotti last season.

Malaysia should have been an equaliser on 84 minutes after a clever pass between the Chelsea centre-backs but Thamil Arasu wasted it, to his and his team-mates disbelief.



For the record Malaysia fielded an understrength squad due to Malaysia having an international fixture in Singapore this weekend 23rd July 2011, a World Cup qualifying match against neighbour Singapore.

So the Malaysian team that nearly humiliated the star studded Chelsea team only consisted of the Malaysian Olympic (Under 23) team, augmented by a few senior club players.

The team was different and weaker than the one that lost 0-4 to Arsenal and 3-6 to Liverpool earlier this month.

He scored Malaysia's solitary goal in the 4-1 loss to the Blues at the 2003 FA Premier League Asia Cup a powerful header that keeper Marco Ambrosio could only palm into the net.

The forward is now 31 and has been a league champion and won the Malaysia Cup with three different clubs.

Mohd Amri Yahyah is the 30-year-old captain of 2009 and 2010 Malaysian Super League champions Selangor.

A striker or midfielder, he scored two goals against Manchester United during their 2009 visit to Kuala Lumpur. He was part of the national side that won the 2010 Asian Football Federation Cup.

Joseph Kalang Tie who had a trial with Hartlepool United 2008.

By contrast, Chelsea started by fielding a world class front three of Fernando Torres flanked by Salomon Kalou on the left and Yossi Benayoun on the right.

Florent Malouda was on the left so starting captain Frank Lampard moved to a less accustomed right berth.

Josh McEachran was again the deeper of the midfield three and there was a second appearance for centre-back Slobodan Rajkovic following the Wycombe game. He was paired with Branislav Ivanovic.

The second-half side was 11 different players with young Nathaniel Chalobah partnering John Terry and Billy Clifford and Yury Zhirkov both in midfield. Didier Drogba led the line with Nicolas Anelka left and Daniel Sturridge right.

Arsenal beat Malaysia 4-0 in pre season friendly in Kuala Lumpur, 13th July 2011

Arsenal cruised to victory in the opening game of their Asia Tour on Wednesday night 13th July 2011 at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In the sweltering heat of Kuala Lumpur, a Malaysia XI found the Gunners simply too hot to handle. Arsenal won impressively 4-0.

Aaron Ramsey stroked home a penalty after 5 minutes and, 8 minutes before the break Theo Walcott clipped home a second.

Carlos Vela dinked in No 3 just after the restart in the 58th minute.

Tomas Rosicky scored Arsenal's 4th and final goal in the 90th minute after a good work by Andrei Arshavin.


Arsenal took an early lead via a penalty in the 5th minute by Ramsey.

Andrei Arshavin put up a good job in the left flank before his deflected cross found Tomas Rosicky for Arsenal's 4th goal in injury time.

Malaysia XI had carried a threat in the first half, mainly thanks to the pace of left winger Kunanlan Subramaniam. But they fell away as the game wore on.

This was Arsenal’s first game in Malaysia since 1999. Back then French duo, Emmanuel Petit and Nicolas Anelka had secure a solid 2-0 victory.

In 1975, Malaysia beat Arsenal 2-0, both goals scored by Malaysia's legendary striker the late Mokhtar Dahari.

Arsenal leaves for China on Thursday, 14th July 2011 on the second leg of the Tour.

Malaysia will face another 2 English giants, Liverpool and Chelsea at the same stadium in a few days time.

Liverpool is due to arrive in Malaysia on Thursday 14th July 2011.

Sportmanship at its greatest level...

The match was held on March 10, 2010 at the Alejandro Morera Soto Stadium, Alajuela, Costa Rica . It was the women under 17 CONCACAF Qualifying soccer match between USA and Haiti.

The match ended 9-0, USA won of course.

But at the end of the match, the situation became very emotional.

We know, 2 months before the match, Haiti was shocked by a devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake on 12 January 2010, killing approximately 230,000 people and injuring 300,000 and causing 1 million Haitians to be homeless.

The earthquake also made millions more Haitians who survived to suffer for a long period of times despite gargantuan efforts by the world including the USA, United Nations and the Red Cross to help Haiti recover.












While the USA scored several artistic goals at the end of the match, the most amazing moment from the game came after the final whistle as Haitian goalkeeper Alexandra Coby slumped to the turf in tears.



Her coach helped her to her feet, and while still sobbing, she saw U.S. goalkeeper Bryane Heaberlin walking toward her. Coby embraced Heaberlin in a tight hug and held on. What followed was a rare sight in sports and an emotional and memorable moment for the young Americans players.

All the U.S. players surrounded Coby and Heaberlin in a huge group hug that lasted at least 90 seconds. When it broke up, the entire U.S. team left the field in tears.

“I saw her crying and that was pretty hard for me to see,” said Heaberlin. “She’s a ‘keeper and we have that bond. I knew that she had probably lost people close to her, and when she goes home she might not have anywhere to go. I gave her a big hug and told her she did great. She came to compete in this tournament despite all that she’s been through and I have tremendous respect for her.”

“It just put everything into perspective,” said U.S. defender Olivia Brannon, who played the 90 minutes at right back. “It makes you realize what is truly important, your family, having a roof over your head, and having food on the table. We take all those things for granted. I had my mom in the stands cheering for me tonight. Some of these girls might never have that again.”

Haiti’s participation in the tournament despite the tragic earthquake has been an inspiration to all the teams in the competition.

Fabio Capello has made up his mind not to include Beckham in future international duty for England due to age factor. But to me, Beckham even at 35, is still an X-Factor in the England squad and still an icon in world football. You name it - 30 yards, 25 yards, 40 yards and even 70 yards. Beckham can still score many amazing goals in his career...

many top international goalkeepers had been beaten by the super bending of the ball whenever Beckham step forward to execute a free kick. The ball can go high, low, left, right, extreme left and right but will always end up at the back of the net.

Beckham scored many wonderful goals from set pieces beginning from his early playing career at Manchester United, followed by Real Madrid and now LA Galaxy.

However Beckham is still very much an utility player for LA Galaxy.. His skills comes with good looks and charms.

He is one of the most handsome footballers of all time. Beckham even succeded in wooing one of the most glamorous girls in the world - Posh Spice or Victoria of the Spice Girls fame..

Beckham took part in 3 world cups - France 1998, Korea/Japan 2002 and Germany 2006 and scored in all those 3 world cups - the first England player to do so.

Beckham was selected to play for England in the 2010 world cup in South Africa but an injury sidelined him.

But after more than 100 games, three World Cups and years living as an international icon, David Beckham's England career may be over for good.

England coach Fabio Capello said on Wednesday 11th August 2010, that the 35-year-old former captain, who has played 115 times for his country, is too old and will no longer be a part of his plans as he prepares for the 2012 European Championship qualifying campaign.

"I won't be picking him for any more competitive matches," Capello said after England beat Hungary 2-1 in a friendly at Wembley.

"David is a fantastic player, he was really important, but we have to see the new players for the future because the age is important for a lot of people, not only for David."

From his debut against Moldova in 1996 until his heart-breaking injury just before the 2010 World Cup, Beckham had been synonymous with the England team and his presence, not to mention his global appeal, will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.

Capello said Beckham, who trails only goalkeeper Peter Shilton's record of 125 England appearances, will have the chance to play in a friendly "farewell game."

"I hope he can play one more friendly game to say bye bye," Capello said.

Capello spoke while Beckham was in the United States training with the Los Angeles Galaxy for the first time in five months.

"Did I phone him before I went on television?" Capello said. "No. I think I will speak with him. We tried to speak with him. But I think David knows he has no future with the international team because we have to change. We tried to speak with him."

Beckham has repeatedly said he has no plans of retiring from playing for England. He went to the World Cup in South Africa in June as a member of Capello's off-field staff after being sidelined following Achilles' tendon surgery.

Speaking in Carson, California, before Capello's comments, Beckham had said: "I've always said that I won't retire from playing for my country, whether I never get picked again, play one more game or 10 more games. There are a lot of good young players coming through. We'll see."

The Galaxy said there would be no response Wednesday to Capello's comments, but Beckham's spokesman, Simon Oliveira, said the player isn't calling it quits.

"There has been no discussion of retirement," Oliveira said. "He will always be available for his country, when fit and if needed he will be there."

England captain Steven Gerrard said he expects Beckham to bounce back, just as he did after being dropped following the 2006 World Cup.

"I'm sure that if he hears that news, it'll drive him on and he'll try to prove people wrong and try to get back in the set-up because I know he loves playing for England," Gerrard said. "He's had some fantastic performances, some fantastic goals, memories. He was a fantastic captain. I've learned a lot from David and it's been a pleasure to play alongside him.

"If he has played his last game, he'll certainly be missed because, both on and off the pitch, he's a great guy."

Beckham missed out on a fourth World Cup after tearing an Achilles' tendon in March while on loan to AC Milan from the Galaxy to stay in shape for England during the Major League Soccer offseason. He resumed training Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Beckham didn't do any drills with the Galaxy but he participated in conditioning with training staff.

"The focus is on the team and preparing my tendon," Beckham said. "I've been hitting it so hard for the last two years, every month that it's obviously tough on my body. It's about getting back this season as soon as possible, playing the rest of the season and then taking the time to get the rest in, prepare my body and be ready for next season."

He is not expected to be fit for the Galaxy again until Sept. 4 in Chicago.

Beckham, who began his career at Manchester United in 1992, made his England debut against Moldova in September 1996.

The low point of his international career came at his first World Cup, in 1998, when he was sent off for petulantly kicking out at Argentina midfielder Diego Simeone. England lost the round of 16 match and some England fans hung effigies of Beckham.

Beckham managed to bounce back and captained the team at the 2002 World Cup under coach Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Beckham tearfully relinquished the England captaincy after the 2006 tournament, when England reached the quarterfinals for the second straight time. He was then dropped by coach Steve McClaren, but was restored as England's qualifying campaign for the 2008 European Championship faltered.

McClaren was fired in November 2008 after England failed to reach Euro 2008.

Despite initially falling out of favor under Capello before being restored to the team when both were at Real Madrid, Beckham's international career survived when the Italian took over as coach from McClaren.

Beckham often only appeared as a late substitute but played a role in 16 of the 21 matches under Capello before he was injured three months before the World Cup in South Africa.

Because of his influence in the camp, Beckham was taken to the World Cup in a non-playing role by Capello. He wasn't there in an official coaching role despite often appearing on the training field and at matches.

To those who doesn't know Beckham.. Well he was twice runner-up for FIFA World Player of the Year.

In 2004 Beckham was the world's highest-paid footballer when taking into account salary and advertising deals.

Beckham was the first British footballer to play 100 Champions League matches, was Google's most searched of all sports topics in both 2003 and 2004 and with such global recognition he has become an elite advertising brand and a top fashion icon.

Beckham was captain of England from 15 November 2000 until the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals, during which he played 58 times, scoring many amazing goals via freekicks.

Since then he has continued to represent his country and earned his much-publicised hundredth cap for England against France on 26 March 2008. He is currently England's 2nd most-capped outfield player with 115 appearances after Peter Shilton.

Beckham's career began playing professional football with Manchester United, making his first-team debut in 1992 aged 17. During his time with the Red Devils, Manchester United won the Premier League title six times, the FA Cup twice, and the UEFA Champions League in 1999.

Beckham however left Manchester United to sign for Real Madrid in 2003, where he remained for four seasons, clinching the La Liga championship in his final season with the club.

In January 2007, Beckham left Real Madrid and signed a five-year contract with Major League Soccer, MLS club Los Angeles Galaxy in the USA. Beckham's contract with Los Angeles Galaxy enabled him to become the highest player salary in MLS history, his playing contract worth USD$6.5 million per year

World Cup greatest moments - Pele's goal attempt from the halfway line

It happened in the 1970 world cup in Mexico. The game was Brazil versus Czechoslovakia.

Brazil won the match 4-1 with their legendary striker - Pele scoring a goal.

But the highlight of the match was a goal attempt in which Pelé audaciously attempted to lob a shot over Czechoslovak goalkeeper Ivo Viktor from the halfway line, missed the goal by a whisker.

World Cup greatest moments - the save of the century by Gordon Banks

During the 1970 World Cup in Mexico, 2 times world champion Brazil was in the same group with the then reigning world champion - England who won the world cup in the previous tournament in 1966.

The "Clash of the Champions" between Brazil and England lived up to all expectations.

The match is always best remembered for the great and legendary Brazilian striker - Pelé near-miss. His powerful close-range downward header was kept out by an amazing save from England goalkeeper - Gordon Banks, who somehow managed to get down to the ball and flick it upwards and over the bar. The save "stopped the world" and till now Pele still remembers the save of the century and still could not understand why the sure goal, managed to be saved by Gordon Banks!!! Other goalkeepers in the world would have been beaten!!!!

In the end, a single Jairzinho goal was enough to win the game for Brazil. However England too advanced to the next around before being beaten 2-3 by Germany in the quarterfinal.

Thiery Henry handball incident - it is time to use video technology

Ireland branded Thierry Henry as "Le Cheat"!!!! Why?? Because Thierry Henry handled the ball before passing the ball to William Gallas for a 2-1 aggregate victory to send France to the 2010 World Cup Final in South Africa, at the expense of Ireland.

Yes... the traditional luck of the Irish, deserted them that day..

Well, in the highly charged match, the incident happened in split seconds - less than 0.001 seconds - impossible for the referee to see...... but it could have been a different story, if video technology was used...

French football great - Michael Platini said, the use of video technology will kill the game... But i would like to ask Platini - without the use of video technology, the referees will kill the games... How many high level matches had ended up like this??

If video technology was used - the 1986 World Cup winner would not have been Argentina.... Everybody saw Diego Maradonna used his hand to score the 1st goal for Argentina against England in the quarter final of the 1986 tournament... yet the referee was blind...!!!! Maradonna went on to single handedly guided Argentina to lift the 1986 World Cup.. with a 3-2 victory over West Germany in the final.



If video techonology was used, the 1966 World Cup winner would have been West Germany and not England... The match ended 4-2 in favour of England with Geoff Hurst scoring a hattrick.

But after 43 years, Hurst 3rd goal was still disputed till this day....!!

A study conducted by the Engineering Department at Oxford University concluded that the ball did not cross the line entirely and that it was 6 cms away from being a goal.

Thierry Henry, what is wrong with you??? You have won everything the world football has to offer.. you name it - the World Cup, the Euro, the English Premier League, The La Liga Spanish League, the UEFA Champions League... Henry has won it all...!!!!

With France, Henry won the 1998 World Cup (France beat Brazil 3-0 in the final) and the Euro 2000 (France 2-1 Italy in the final).

With Arsenal, Henry won the Barclay's English Premier League title, twice.

With his current club, Barcelona - Henry won the 2008/2009 UEFA Champions League, beating Manchester United 2-0 as well as the Spanish La Liga title that year...
